I'd give most of it to charity. I don't need to spend obscene amounts of money to have a happy life

I would probably give most of it to my brother so that I don't have to worry about begging letters etc. Then I would buy a little house, get a big dog and squander the rest on things that give me pleasure.

I could donate money to charity and just try to make people happy. It is lottery night tonight!!

I'd give about £75000 to HMRC. And I think I'd be too busy to get round to spending a lot of it. But the more you have the more commitments you get- he'd probably need a nanny, boarding schoo; or certainly private school fees, a home in two cities

it is George Osborne not St George for chrissakes
Ha- missed a zero off (either that or he has a good tax accountant)-I meant £750000

George Best.
Man after my own heart. Unlike the other George in question :-)
Yes, 45% tax on most of it plus full NI on a small chunk and then a marginal rate of 2% I think on all of it. So about £750000
I'm a tad confused by the figure in the OP. Could someone please clarify?
I assume it's the sum of the salaries of his various current and future jobs
Is there a comma missing?

Gotcha.

I'd spend two thirds on wine, make-up, shoes and takeaways. The test I'd probably just waste.
George Osborne is the MP for Tatton, for which he is responsible for a wacking great majority of over 18,000.

So........ I am at a loss how he could possibly have enough time to do another job, at whatever rate of pay.

When he is away earning these eye-wateringly large sums, who is looking after Tatton please ?
I thought Tilly said - forget George ?

I'd certainly help family in every way I could and then have a think.
