Any truth in it working or an old wives tale? Went to a party last night and rather over indulged !! Not that I actually think that having a drink on a Monday afternoon is a very good idea but just curious. Head is pounding and I've drank gallons of water and taken paracetamol but still feel bleugh!

It probably works for some Smowball but not for me.Hope you recover soon.
This was discussed on This Morning recently. Apparently there is truth in it but not in a good way. The doctor said that you don't need to be alcohol dependent to suffer withdrawal symptoms so a drink can make you feel better. It could also just put on hold the inevitable.

Drink Lucozade or something similar.
Lucozade and a Mars bar will sort you out ;-)

Don't have either. My eyeballs want to pop out of my head.
I small drink will probably make you feel a bit better, it's not really good. For you.

Take some paracetamol or ibuprofen, drink plenty of water.

Lucozade and a mint Aero used to be my hangover cure of choice.
Excuse typos above. Some random full stops and capitals appeared somehow.
I know you won't feel like it, but try and eat something fatty. A sausage sandwich, or a fried egg sandwich, would help immensely. Believe it or not, it's been proved that an English Breakfast is one of the best cures due to the fats and proteins.
Do you take sugar in drinks? If so a very sweet latte and as many biccies as you can force down. You have to get your glucose levels up.
When you drink alcohol, it erodes the balance mechanisms in your ears, which is why you can't walk straight ...

but it's OK because the next morning, two little men appear with hammers, chisels and drills and repair them for you!

Omg i can't face food - stomach is churning.
Who has a party on a Sunday night? LOL! that will teach you. Seriously get something down you, something that if it comes back up won't have lumps in it :-/

It was a friend of Mr Smow and yes I agree was daft on a Sunday. Have eaten two yoghurts. Probably not the best idea but was all I could face.
I drank milkshake once with a hangover (it was all we had besides water) it curdled in my stomach and I puked up what looked like cottage cheese :-D
Feeling any better yet Smowball?
some chicken soup
As a seasoned drinkist, I would say that it's asking for trouble: you wake up hungover because your body is reacting to toxins, adding more seems dodgy to me.
Oh and paracetamol is heavy on the liver, I never touch the stuff for headaches caused by drinking.
Lots of clear fluids, fresh air or sleep.

I've had lots of water and a piece of toast now and feel much much better. All self inflicted so only myself to blame. Thanks for all the suggestions xx (and ummm I've done exactly that before!! Bleugh!!)
hell mend ya ! lol xx
