and just use F/Fox instead, as IE is very slow, and trying to type is a nightmare especially on A/B which I have mentioned before on here.

If I do, will I lose any information whilst I used it?

you can keep IE on your PC but use firefox as your default browser, you shouldn't lose any information
you can try but it will take aaaaaaaaaages to delete IE, if you ever manage it ;)
You can't actually remove IE from your machine but you can disable it. However that is not necessary since you can install and run as many different browsers as you want because they are separate programs and no one of them precludes the others. So simply forget about IE, install Firefox and start using that (initially it will ask if you want to import bookmarks from IE).
(and set the browser you want to use as the system default)
Why is Ffox slow for you. Have you kept FF updated ? Your fav will show on FF but in a different format under heading 'from IE' under Bookmarks.
tamborine, he says IE is very slow
thanx ducksie....well you cant remove IE - just dont use it.

Thanks folks, what would I do without you's :-)
I have IE on my lappy but use Chrome. It's handy to keep it there as a backup.

methyl, I'm on F/F now and its brilliant, so will keep to it, but thanks anyway.

The only thing now, is that I haven't got a Google search on a toolbar near the top or AB, FB, hot mail and others I use frequently, how do I do that please?
Thanks methyl, I have a 'disused' copy of Chrome on my machine and performance issues I've been wanting to clear up for months. Thanks for mentioning that.

@trt

I find Firefox has a problem with downloading programs from BBC iPlayer (the link changes colour when clicked but the download alert box fails to appear). If I switch to IE, the download works straight away.

Abilty to switch to another browser is great for deducing whether it's a website problem or a browser-specific problem.

View / Toolbars / tick Navigation Toolbar

Look for a dropdown icon at left of the search box, click it, select from list and/or
Manage Search Engines menu option

Ta Hypo, still need help sorting my last post though.
I've also been wondering about Chrome... so have just uninstalled it following methyl's advice; it took about 5 seconds, no problems.

Of course it may come to my bedroom tonight moaning and pleading with me to put it back but I shall be firm.
@trt,

Ah. The answer I gave was to get you the equivalent of a google toolbar. (It's kind of built-in with the navigation toolbar, as you can now see).

I think what you meant was how to get IE Favourites (called "Bookmarks" in FF) imported into FF.

I can't remember ever bothering with that and just built up a fresh set of Favourites by bookmarking as I went. Used google to relocate any sites I couldn't remember the URL for.

Sorry!
