In NM (always a good) thread, I refer to my slow-cooker which I wouldn't be without, we wash by opening a door then turning a dial or pressing a button, we have dinner then put the plates and stuff in the dishwasher !
we don't get up from our chairs to switch the television over, we no longer beat the eggs and butter together when we bake, a electric whisk does that, then we can talk to people on a mobile wherever we are, and then come in here and chat to people we will never meet but develop a bond with some !
So were they "The Good Old Days" after all :)

arrh Bless him,
I like NMs threads...so there :-)
Years ago Bobbi there was far more camaraderie than there is these days. Gone are the days when you could go out and leave the house unlocked as the neighbourhood was largely drug and crime free. Good neighbours still exist, but we live in an age that has become so High Tech and materialistic. It is so called progress at a price and many of us wish for the 'Good old days' in some respects.
Listen, I'm just gald I have a laptop asnd don't have to faff about accomodating a huge monitor, a key board and a mouse and a tower!!!!

you are right of cause red, I remember my Mum making broth and always enough for a neighbour to have some and when the coalman delivered his coal and there was washing out, everyone would rush to help get it in, we have gone backwards in that respect I fear :-)
Question Author
Hi dot, not feeling too good today :-(
Plenty of fluids and paracetamol for the pain and ibuprofen too bobbi.
when life was simpler I think people were happier, the mod cons are good but I think these days there is too much keeping up with the jones which is alienating neighbourly relations
Question Author
yes I'm taking them, funny how you go to bed fine and wake up feeling sh!te innit :-)
I'm all for Technical progress as we cannot stop that. Providing we have the money just about everything is available to us. The biggest curse of modern society is the hard Drug culture which is a destroyer of lives and Families. I am an optomist so maybe the Good old days will return in some respects. Amen ! Ha Ha

Hello cazz, yes there is certainly a keep oneself to oneself factor now
It's because you have been breathing in the same air over and over bobbi, you should keep a window open even in winter if you are unwell, germs can't thrive in the cold and it cirulates fresh air.

they reckon evolution happens red, I was never tempted to take anything and I was a teen in the 60s when everyone felt totally liberated

funny I thought about the progress of technology when I was watching only fools the other day they showed the grandad watching the national anthem that they used to play before the TV closed down around midnight. now the tv channels never seem to close down, there is always something to watch at any hour!
