Can this cold weather affect the starting up of the pc?
My pc is sited in probably the coldest room in the house and recently it's been a problem to get it to go.you can hear the fan motor struggling to get going.Or is it just another sign that it's wearing out??

It could be a sign that your fans need cleaning - they could be clogged with dust.
Thanks Ethel I wish that I'd been able to read that earlier bercause \Ikept trying to get it started and all I got was bangs and flashes from the rear of.It frightened the life out of me it lasted a few seconds before I could turn the main switch off. the PC.I've taken the side panels off but considering the amount of arcing I can't see any obvious damage.I' m too scared to re-start

That's a good thing. Don't turn it on again until it's been seen by a repair man.
