In a film based on a novel by a nobel prizewinner, an Oscar was won by an actor with the same name as a character in a well-known 1970's sitcom. to whom was the oscar inscribed? Any clues please?

Did Daniel Day Lewis win an Oscar for playing Hawkeye in Last of the Mohicans? Not that i can see how that fits with a Noble prize winner... worth a try
I did post an answer "you know nothing". (which seems to have disappeared). It wasn't meant to be an insult - it was a hint - albeit a fawlty one.

I thought your clue was brilliant, but I still can't get the connection. Maybe I need a brain transplant!!
Look for the connection with Barcelona - then look for an actor (a brilliant one by the way) who played the role of this character.
