I am considering doing the 75 softs in the new year and, possibly, even doing the 75 hard after that. What are your thoughts on that? That means I would be doing this challenge for at least 150 days or about 5 months.

75 soft:

- Eat well and only drink on social occasions.

- Train for 45 minutes every day, with one day a week for active recovery.

- Drink three litres of water a day.

- Read ten pages of any book a day.

75 hard:

If you skip a day, you must start over.

- Pick a diet to follow, with no alcohol or cheat meals.

- Drink a gallon of water daily.

- Complete 2 daily workouts.

Read 10 pages per day of a non-fiction book

The soft seems reasonable, although I never knew about it, I have been doing all of those things every day for the last few years.  I'm still breathing.

Achievable for most people, and targets are good

So you are on the side of the 75 soft for the 75 days, but I am unsure if I should switch to the 75 hard after that or stick with the 75 soft.

See how you feel after the soft challenge.  Two workouts a day is meaningless.  I do cardio and yoga every day, some would count that as two.  If it is two long, intense sessions it could do more harm than good.

Feeling like a failure because you have a drink at, say, a wedding is not good for morale.

Disrupting sleep every night because you've drunk too much water is not good for overall health, but if you live in a hot country, do a physical job and exercise hard then you probably wouldn't be affected.

Maybe adjust the challenge to suit you - everyone is different

After exhaustive research I've concluded that we all die eventually, just some of us haven't been slaves to some nonsensical fad.

Be well.

Hadn't heard of this so have just had a quick read. It sounds like another trend but if that's what you want to do, ok.

Why a non-fiction book?

??

I suppose some people rarely read novels or non-fiction books and for some reason reading is considered to be a 'good thing'. Depends what you read.

Does the 75 refer to age?

The soft one sounds like a reasonable target for any age.

A gallon a day of water in the hard one is just silly.

You could add doing a Sudoku, crossword, Wordle etc. per day too

It refers to the number of days the challenge lasts - it's for any age.  The original 75 challenge is the harder one, and the soft is a more realistic alternative - healthier in my view.
