//"Boxers know the risks involved". Car drivers know the risks involved driving without a seatbelt on but it's still not allowed// Bad analogy. Car drivers run the risk of hurting others, boxers will only ever hurt each other.

ummmm//
How can they regulate it more?
By wearing protective headgear as they do in amateur boxing.
ummmm, they could go back to the days of bare-knuckle boxing.

Ban gloves. Punches would be a lot less lethal if you knew you'd break your knuckles.
I read somewhere that headgear adds mass/weight and can make blows more dangerous.
Think i'd risk breaking my knuckles for a few million quid:-/

Can't remember any instances of amateur boxers suffering brain damage.,
you'd have to start at the bottom, Ken. Before you became a contender you'd have had to break your knuckles a lot, for pennies.
Then, jno, in that hypothetical situation, i would hope to develop a very good 'kidney punch' technique which would render my opponents totally incapable of carrying on with the fight, protecting my dainty knuckles in the process:-)
everyone would be trying to, Ken. You might get as far as Las Vegas with perfect knuckles but on dialysis.
They could go off points instead of KO.
Bare knuckle fighting is rife. I don't know how much they get paid though. Enough to buy a caravan :-)
There's lots of research done into what is good/bad for you, usually food orientated, but some things are intuitively bad for you; smoking and boxing fall into that category.
If you want to be a warrior, facing death is part of it
lol, yes, ummmm. But I think you're much less likely to get killed with bare knuckles.
the boxers know the risks involved and it is highly regulated as it is.
There are some high-risk sports, but the difference is, they are the risks and not the intentions. A racing driver knows the risks, fair enough, but injury is not the actual aim. I'm not sure Boxing should really be classed as a "sport".
I'm sorry, no sympathy here. They know full well what the risks are when they step into the ring.

What I will say in support of the sport, is that it's taken many young people off the streets and out of gangs etc. If it wasn't for boxing, how many of these guys would've been involved in knife or gun crime? In that sense, boxing has saved countless more lives than it's cost.
Impossible to say, mozz... who knows?

Boxing has been an Olympic sport since 100s anno domino and probably an original Olympic sport
