Arsenal v Man City.

I am not a supporter of either Club.....BUT....the first goal.
TV clearly showed Aguera nudging ( pushing) the central Man City defender before racing away to score.
Is nudging (pushing) legal or not?

Unfortunately in this day and age,the least touch and Players are rolling around as if they had been shot by a sniper.!!How would they have coped with the Bremners,Mackays and Hunters of the 60/70's?

LOl..LOL...I know ! I know! but.......is a push a foul or not?

On TV there was a definite push.

I think you're allowed to nudge a player from your own side without penalty Sqad? ;0))))
Question Author
LOl...sorry Captain......my mistake....;-).......Arsenal defender.
Do any of you know anything about football?
Oh crap, Sqad has spotted it
Correction ... Captain spotted it.
IMO,The skill level has gone out of Football,Where are the Jim Baxters,Bobby Mitchells,Stan Bowles,Stanley Matthews, etc, half the Players today couldn't trap a Medicine Ball.!! And don't get me started on the "Coaches" with their books of Diagrams on the touchline.
Well I am an Arsenal supporter - standing there with your arms in the air after a gentle nudge while your opponent runs away with the ball in a dangerous position is just pathetic.

Garaman...yes! yes! I agree...BUT...is a push a foul?
Yes or no?
foul 1 ???
since when has deliberate obstruction been part of the game how far are you allowed to legally shepherd the ball out of play ??

foul 2 ???
if you are the last player to touch the ball before it goes out of play what gives you the right to claim the throw in or corner ?this is blatant cheating and never punished.
barging shoulder to shoulder is allowed a push by the hand/arm is a foul. I didn't see this so can someone describe the "push".
Question Author
TTT yes, I can.

A high ball was coming down and both defender and attacker were intent on competing.
The attacker (Aguero) who was goal side, pushed the defender allowing the ball to go over the defender's head, picked up by Aguero and the rest is history.
Technically yes, Squad, but it is a contact sport so you can't stop for every minor infringement. I have no complaints other than with the defender.

johnny5: F1 yes obstruction has been largely forgotten, it's not a fould but it is obstruction to sheppard the ball out, indirect free kick.
F2: That could be construed as one of the 4 reasons for a yellow card, "ungentlemanly conduct" but it would take more than one offence and then it would be covered under another of the 4 reasons for booking, "persistently infringing the laws of the game", but yes you are correct it is not punished.
sqad did he push by using his hand/arm or by barging with his body?
Question Author
Garaman....I understand that, but that "infringement" lead to a goal within 30 secs.
Question Author
TTT both hands were used........watch the clip by Garaman.
I can't see the clip at work, I'll look later but it sounds like it was a foul to me.
