Is there still the rule about having at least one foot on the ground at all time or don't they bother with details like that any more?

Doesn't it become running when both are off the ground for a second or so?
Yes that's the rule - some have been disqualified today for not having a foot down.

I don't know how they stop themselves from breaking into a run when accelerating.
that, maidup, is the difficult part.
i see walking as the toughest sport.
I know it is a genuine sport, and really hard, but I can't be the only one who thinks they look absolutely RIDICULOUS. My dad used to do walking as a sport but I still think this.
