My 80yr old neighbour called round earlier this evening with a parcel that was addressed to her that she hadn't ordered.
The name of the catalogue company is Very and she has never even heard of them.
I phoned the company on her behalf and was told by the automated reply that I would have to wait at least 10 mins before my call was answered so I put the phone down.
I've told her to leave it with me and I will try to get it sorted, so I emailed them.
I just wondered how that can happen though, receiving something addressed to you from a company you have never even heard of.
Have you heard of this happening before?

I have ordered from them before and I find I get a quicker answer by emailing them. If you go to the "Contact Us" section you will find the email address.

The parcel contained a pair of size 7 esperdrills and a mans shirt.
She only has small feet and lives on her own and also because I don't think she would even now how to order anything from a catalogue so I'm really thinking she didn't order them. As well as the fact she's never heard of them.
Someone has probably ordered them and clicked the wrong address. (I don't know how though to be honest!) Once you get through to them they should come and collect it.
Question Author
I have emailed them V&C, just waiting to hear back from them now.
What are her rights over something like this?
Surely they can't ask her to return them if she didn't even order them?

Our post's crossed.
Is it possible your neighbour does comps, if so she may have won a prize, that is being fwd by this company, this did happen to me, not the same company though
Strange! I can understand that someone may have posted the wrong address, but was the parcel addressed to this lady by name? Anyway, I'm sure the company will collect the parcel at their expense.
'Very' is Littlewoods

No magicmick, There was an advice note in the parcel. There was also an ipod case and she doesn't know what they are either.
Question Author
Yes mike her name and address on the parcel which I think is really strange if she has never ordered anything from them.
It's easy to click the wrong address. Many sites ask for your postcode and then give you a list of houses. Someone might have just clicked the wrong one.
Sorry....forgot about her name being on it.

As I was saying before the system interrupted .......

Perhaps a relative is involved, using her for reasons of their own, but either hasn't got round to telling her, or has told her and she has forgotten - just a thought.

That's interesting canary.I will ask her tomorrow if that might have happened.
even if the poor old lady won a prize why would the prize be a pair of espadrilles and a shirt ? your a good neighbour missprim I hope you get it sorted and ask them to remove the address from their mailing list otherwise she may get demands for the money for the items.
someone using her name and address, hopefully the company can sort it. otherwise she may find more stuff arriving that she didn't order.
Companies do make mistakes, but suggest this might be some sort of scam.
if they are using her name & address then they must have thought they could quietly collect without her knowledge, who does she know that takes size 7 in espadrilles ? apart from Cinderella ! not wanting to point fingers does she have help in the house ?hopefully the mail order people wont tell you that other parcels have been delivered there too.IF so contact the constabulary.
