Candlewick bedspreads and dressing gowns were popular in the 1960's and thereabouts. Brentford nylon prodducts were popular in the late 60's and early 70's.
I do, back in the days of sheets and blankets. Now we have the duvet.

I remember the weight of blankets, sheets and eiderdowns. You could hardly turn over in bed.
Nylon sheets? Were'nt they for kids that wet the bed?
I remember being in hospital in 1963, and once the nurse had 'tucked' you in for the night you couldn't move!!

Nylon sheets were just that, Horrible shiny nylon or brushed nylon, both awful and sweaty.
My OH still puts a "throw" on his side of the bed.
Stargazer so in summer you'd wake up in the middle of the night thinking you were in a paddling pool!
Candlewick bedspread? I've still got one!
(And it does get used too!)

Nylon sheets? I think that I might have some of those in the attic.

Brentford Nylons? Yes I remember them but I've just had to look up 'counterpane' to find out what you're referring to.
Yes but they dried really quickly and didn't need ironing!!

Is counterpane a very old fashioned term for a bed covering then?
Prudie sounds like a great present to buy single men!

I remember a friend who had a double sized candlewick bedspread in white and the mess it made all over the darker carpet. I never had one after I saw the mess that it made.
Brushed nylon sheets, late 1970s hated them, and we had a pale lilac and a pink candlelwick bedspreads, that never wore out.
