We are now approaching a new year,2023 and many people are wondering if the coming months will bring better things.

Do you see the world as badly in need of reliable direction?. Politicians clamoring for public support promise much but leave shattered hopes behind them.
Half truths and outright falsehood have become the world’s stock in trade, and it has corroded relations in business and among neighbors and family members. The result is that many become cynical and say they do not believe anyone.

And those who turn to the religions of the world do not find a much brighter prospect. Religious teachers do not agree among themselves, nor do they teach what the Bible say or agree with the Bible, which they say is filled with ‘fables’ and statements that are ‘not historically accurate.’

"Historical accuracy" is a fascinating subject when investigating the ancient world. If we know that a human cannot live for so long, the question is what the author actually meant or wrote (Numerals are notoriously vulnerable for mistranscription in ancient texts). As for the parables, no one claims they actually happened. The term comes from a Greek word meaning "to speak with a parallel meaning", which is exactly what the gospel parables do. Whether or not you agree with one or other of the world religions, trying to pick holes in their ancient texts is not really the most effective way to debate them
Flexing. :-)
The illusion of authority and superiority.
Philoctetes, //trying to pick holes in their ancient texts is not really the most effective way to debate them //

What would you suggest IS the most effective way to debate them?

Naomi, The Bible is not All doom & gloom. Many people all over the world deal with problems that cause them to feel sadness, anxiety, and even pain.So have you ever faced a situation that made you feel those things? Maybe you are suffering because of an illness or because of the loss of a love one . You may ask yourself, ‘Will life ever get better?’ The Bible provides a reassuring answer to that question.

The Bible not only explains why the world is filled with problems but also shares the good news that these problems are temporary and will soon be gone. The Bible’s promises can “give you a future and a hope.” (Read Jeremiah 29:11, 12.) and only this can give you the help to cope with our present problems, to have a positive attitude, and to find lasting happiness.

That's it for this year hope to see you next year with all your happy faces.
Goodlife, I know what the bible says. You waste your life dwelling on death.
How would it be if we believed something that made us happy?
We could also follow the Golden Rule, treat others as you'd like to be treated.
Happy New Year to everyone.
Sandy - you don't need a belief system, or a 'faith' to do that, you just need to be a decent human being, the rest is then natural.
locust / Good Life if life is not all about a bowl of cherries there are problems which you mentioned about losing those loved ones of yours yes I can confirm losing your parents and your partner really makes .You think what is life really all about ,and is there where an afterlife, Which will be in a paradise condition ? will you ever see that love one again ?? Where you have the opportunity to be with that love one - or your parents - in the future has life-- grows .as you grow older you realise that there are many problems within this satanic system -And you wonder what is really going to happen ?so you try to look for something better ?? .what do you think of these two scriptures ? ISIAH 25.8 ---26.19.....

Naomi (You waste your life dwelling on death) look what Isaiah foretold for the future ‘ this wonderful promise made by God at Isaiah 25:8).
He will swallow up* death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces.
The reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth,
For Jehovah himself has spoken it. And where the only ones that believe that along with the rest of the Bible, wonderful hope to look forward to.
Are you sure that if Isaiah said it, it must be true, goodlife?

sandyRoe you are right.
Jesus told us what the Golden Rule is when he said: “All things, therefore, that you want men to do to you, you also must do to them. (Matthew 7:12) If we show love for our neighbor and follow the Golden Rule, you will be 'happy'.
