That you could never have done for yourself anyway?
Theres always lots of debates on AB (or at least r&s) about the existence of God, creation v evolution, the historicity of the Bible etc.
But very simply, what has this 'Being' ever done for YOU?

When I was a teenage fundementalist' Christian I was very taken with stories about how God had helped someone find their lost car keys after a prayer or how someones Aunt Aggie had recovered from an operation. (After a prayer of course).
The Bible tells us that if we pray in faith, that mountains can be moved. Jesus (allegedly) says that his followers will do even greater things than he.
If this is the case, then why arn't christians active in hospital prayer in childrens cancer wards?
Why dont amputees ever grow a limb back after prayer?, Why has Maddie never been found despite the prayers of thousands of christians? Why are there so many people still ill (even terminal) after recieving prayer?

What has God ever done for you, that you didnt do for yourself?

Nothing... I think it is a comfort for some people, that's all x

Smoking Spice is a comfort to some people as well.
Just as pernicious.
This will be the easiest answer I've ever given on Answerbank.

As there's no such thing as god, the answer is Nothing.
I didn't say it was healthy... falseness never is. I have four children, which were most definitely not "gifts", I clearly remember doing it all myself. If you ever work it out, nailit, please let me know ;-).
Nothing, my chaos is all mine!
Gave comfort in times of fear and stress. Gives hope that there is a point to existing, rather than just existing.
I have been lucky enough to feel the overwhelming love emanating from the Godhead. It was all embracing. I don’t preach, I don’t persuade, it’s an individual philosophy. I follow no religious teachings at all.

Neither did I??
No, no, you didn't.
It gives some people comfort. It does nothing for me either, but we have no right to stop others from gaining solace from their faith.

I disagree.

Muslim suicide bombers derive comfort from their faith as well.
God gives some people (not me) comfort, hope, reassurance etc. I'm sure you know that the vast majority of Christians don't expect - and certainly not claim - that God will restore limbs on amputees, cure cancer etc.

*FAITH* is pernicious and dangerous!
Gaining solace "within the law", but I would have assumed that was what was meant.

Then the vast majority of Christians havnt even read the bible that they profess to believe in!
Oh dear, all these Christians getting it so, so wrong on a daily basis. I wonder how they can live with themselves?

PS It is not compulsory to take every utterance in the Bible as true, there are far too many contradictions for that.
//I disagree.

What complete tosh. Generally, normal folk who believe in God in the privacy of their own homes don't have any intention to do harm to others.

I'm no Christian Nailit, but that is a preposterous thing to say and makes you look foolish.

If you did a Venn diagram, between religious people and criminally violent people... the overlap would be tiny. Probably no bigger than any other category you could think of.
The majority of religious people don't wish harm on anyone else. Is this thread about religious people or criminals?
Or, if it is about the overlap only... a few questions...?
What religion is the biggest proportion?
What proportion are male or female?
What is the ratio between the violent and non-violent of each religion?

Thanks xx
If anything Nailit, if I was to be asked to pick the more likely suicide bomber between a believer in Jesus Christ (let's use Theland as the obvious candidate) or someone spouting toxic atheism, like your good self, I can't see it being Theland.
I can't see it being nailit either. I would rather see the statistics (truth) to my questions?
