Leaving aside the inaccuracy of these Polls, I think its incredible if any Christian doesn't believe in the resurrection. If they think it never happened, how on earth can they call themselves Christians ?

Isn't this a central plank of Christian belief ?

Shakes head in amazement !

I believe Christ existed, but not that he was the Son of God, rather a charismatic man who people naturally followed. Not sure about him dying in India though.
They're likely from the same benighted sects that don't believe in

transubstantiation or The Immaculate Conception.
The Immaculate Conception was a doctrine promulgated by Pope Pius XII as late as 1950. Hardly a mainstay of Christian belief throughout the ages.
Sorry, I have confused that with the Assumption, which was in 1950. The Immaculate Conception was promulgated in 1854 by Pius IX.
Don't be "palmed" off by any of the answers Mikey.

Togo...I have only just realised that today is Palm Sunday !
Mamya shakes head in amazement ;-)

corbo
I was relying on wiki on unitarians

"In Christian and Christian-derived theologies a Unitarian is a follower of, or a member of an organisation that follows, any of several theologies referred to as Unitarianism..."

but if they themselves say on mondays wednesday and saturdays they are christians and otherwise not - then I can cope

Actually I suppose that is saying
if you are christian - you can be unitarian too!
but you neednt be either.... its up to you
Near 50 people killed today, Palm Sunday, in Egypt, simply because they are Christians. Europe is a Christian continent and Britain is part of it and all some of you can do is try to denigrate it by prattling on about talking snakes, and Noah's ark in the mistaken belief that you think it makes you look smart, well it doesn't, it makes you look rather stupid. Yes mikey, you might well "shake your head in amazement", so do I.
Hi christians !

Mikey - I hadnt realised it was Palm Sunday !
well mikey - this is what you proddos called latitudinarianism - the broad spectrum of theology allows one to say " but that doesnt matter"

I note non-christians and atheists wading in and giving us an opinion on erm christian theology - well hell - the christians on AB blaaart about muslim beliefs often enough and get it wrong

and finally are we hopelessly confusing
the Virgin Brith - ( that is Jesus had a mudder but no father - )
"And Mary said to the angel, "How will this be, since I do not know a man?" that stuff....Luke ch 1

and immaculate conception ?
Mary was born without original sin - she was never baptised see which abolishes or cleanses original sin - but bore jesus who most definitely WAS born without sin

yes I think we are
( even the protestants believe in the virgin birth - as one retired arch bishop of canterbury ( Fisher ) said to me)

The doctrine of the Immaculate Conception (Mary born without original sin) was declared dogma by the pope in 1854 and NOT 1950.

The whole thing about Lourdes and St Bernadette
and the visions of Our Lady and the words
" I am the immaculate conception " - that stuff - is 1858....
[ the boys and girls were showing some resistance to the dogma]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernadette_Soubirous
so the catholic church wheeled out a teenage saint to say
" you better believe this you damned atheists!"
in Gascon Occitan (oops) apparently
oops sozza left out
and Peter shakes his pretty locks in amazement .....
Thems the rules. Easy to be Irreligious till you want blessings for birth, marriage & death.
yeah tambo
actually a priest said the same to me using almost exactly the identical words

Khandro....the whole world is Christian, not just Europe, When Christianity was invented, it was the Middle East that was effected.

But in the intervening years, the cult of Jesus and Christianity spread throughout the Globe.
Isn't this a central plank of Christian belief ?

obviously not, or they'd have been expelled long ago. The long line of non-believers lecturing believers on what exactly they should believe is kind of funny. Christians get to decide if they're Christian. Outsiders do not.
Jno for best answer
// The long line of non-believers lecturing believers on what exactly they should believe is kind of funny.//

happens every day on AB for chrissakes - where have you been ?

as for being RC - if you subscribe to the teachings of the Bishop of Rome you are - and if you dont - you are something else

Prots have more difficulty as the Archbishop of Canterbury does NOT claim a monopoly on defining religious belief. In fact there is a certain amount of latitude allowed - so the church is called latitudinariam. See the first post -which seemed to short-circuit Mikey earlier today
Those without any form of religion, those I call the "nothings", seem to think that there is no problem in ridiculing Christians with a barrage of insults about talking snakes, sky fairies and delusions etc. and seem to believe they have some right, or even duty, to insult their own culture which even Dawkins accepts is impossible to comprehend without reference to Christianity through its history, art, music, literature, philosophy and politics.

Today, Palm Sunday, 50 Christians have been slaughtered and many more seriously wounded at prayer in a Christian church under the name of Islam, and where is the condemnation? looking around the UK internet news sites it appears not to be a major item. The pope says he "will pray for the dead" (very nice), while we observe massacres in Sweden, London, Berlin, Paris and Nice and allow the wholesale building of Mosques, giving sanctuary to more than a million Muslims in those very cities without prioritising Christians, an act of which if I criticize I am called a racist. Why do the nothings wish to be so disrespectful only to Christianity?
Khandro, speaking as a 'nothing' I think you should actually say
