This is a serious question.

Could any of the religious AB members please explain in words that I can understand or without pasting lengthy gibberish tomes, why their Almighty has seen fit to kill over 2000 people in Nepal?

DTC, :0) Not those Phoenicians.
Nor any other Phoenicians.
n.// Any chance of giving a straight answer to my question?//

err.... yeah, yeah... very profound.
naomi; Yeah! though I would like to add to the "all I ask of living" bit, "and please may I be spared from being hemmed in by bores and rationalists!"
Yeah, but no, but....... no idea who you're appealing to.
keyplus90 //Perhaps that is the reason they have more peace of mind than the people who do not waste any opportunity of earning for this life that can finish in a blink of an eye. //

Exactly as I thought. You are justifying the time you spend on the belief that you will enjoy an eternity of your god's favour if you spent the life you can be sure of demonstrating your subservience.

If you are wrong then you have wasted your life devoted to the god of an ancient, ignorant misogynist.
Beso – I am really very sorry to say that you are going round and round in circles believing that I am missing on something by believing in God and hereafter and spending life accordingly. And I have told you before that I am living this life to the full as well and am not missing on anything or otherwise you tell me ONE (yes just one) thing that you might think I am not doing in this world that another normal person might be able to do only because he might not believe in God? And you have been unable to point out a single aspect of this life.

But I know where the problem is. It is Atheistic thinking that everyone else is wrong and Atheists are right. And then you believe that I am spending my life according to some laws or principles written in ancient times. And yes certain aspects of my life are ruled by those laws but being ancient does not make those laws less practical. Of course you have laws to abide by in your life too. Do you not abide by those laws? So what makes you believe that those laws are better than the ones I live my life with? I know what that is, its arrogance and nothing more than that.
beso; I think Keyplus makes some good points there. Why if he's wrong has he "wasted his life", and why have you NOT wasted yours ?
Keyplus, //It is Atheistic thinking that everyone else is wrong and Atheists are right.//

That’s not right. Atheists don’t give a hoot about what anyone believes – but they do give a hoot when religious beliefs affect other people. Keep it to yourself and you won’t hear a peep out of them. Impose it upon others and they will speak out – and rightly so.
keyplus, please read what naomi has written, print it out and pin it to your wall. Read it every day and when you finally understand it you will realise it isn't the atheists who are the bad people in this world.
Vulcan //it isn't the atheists who are the bad people in this world //

So do I take that to mean they are all good ?
No Khandro...just logical and rational !
Khandro, my apologies, I missed out the word only. It should read " it isn't only the atheists who are the bad people in this world.
That's good to hear Vulcan, (though mikey seemed to think it OK as it stood :0)

boxtops. I didn't purposely pick on this one event, it had just happened at the time of posting and mystifies me how this can be 'justified' in religious circles. The catastrophic events you mentioned are just as horrible and in direct contrast of a supposedly good and kind forgiving god, as are many other historical events.

Despite 125 replies, nobody has actually attempted to clearly answer. As you can see, AB is becoming a sad place to be lately, and it seems that it is more popular to discuss who is right and who is wrong.
wildwood, I would suggest it is this stipulation " without pasting lengthy gibberish tomes " is why you haven't received the answers you wanted.
wildwood; why not ask John Polkinghorne he will give you the Christian view, though there are other religions too; http://www.starcourse.org/jcp/qanda.html#Something_from_nothing
wildwood, 125 plus replies, but not all from people of religion to whom the question was addressed. It's not a question for the non-religious.
Vulcan - which one would you like me to print and read every day. The one where you missed the word "Only" or the other one? The one you wrote after waking up from your sleep.

"Atheist don't give a hoot ............................" That must be the joke of the century.
