This is a serious question.

Could any of the religious AB members please explain in words that I can understand or without pasting lengthy gibberish tomes, why their Almighty has seen fit to kill over 2000 people in Nepal?

Khandro, that’s not what Keyplus is saying. He’s saying that at any moment we could be unexpectedly faced with our ‘maker’. Therefore, in order that our copy book is unblemished, we should always be on our best behaviour.
n. It's just a different slant on the same sentiment, it, like many other things in Christianity, stems from the earlier Buddhism.
Khandro, nothing to do with Christianity. Keyplus is Muslim. He is saying he lives prepared to meet his 'maker' at any time. His philosophy is worlds away from Buddhism.
He’s saying.................... we should always be on our best behaviour;

and so we should, well at least try, the reason doesn't matter.
It does to him. That's the point.
Naomi – you will never understand what I am saying. Because you live in a world where the sole objective of life is making money, having a name, having property portfolio, enjoying your life. Only problem with that attitude is that the moment you die, nothing helps you and everything is left behind for “Someone else”. So what do you take with you?

And you are wrong once again. I don’t spend my life thinking about death. I spend my life thinking about what I would have with me once I am dead.

But then don’t worry as for you life is just the end of the story, forever. So treat it as a fair ground.

Keyplus, //I don’t spend my life thinking about death. I spend my life thinking about what I would have with me once I am dead.//

:o/ mmmm. Perhaps you should try again.
//And you are wrong once again. I don’t spend my life thinking about death. I spend my life thinking about what I would have with me once I am dead.//

LOL.
... and on that^ happy note, night all. ;o)
Keyplus, what would you hope to have with you when you are dead? and why?
Jomifl - Don't you worry about that as that is something you don't believe in so why waste your time. Just carry on and enjoy the time you have they way you would like to.
Naomi – Didn’t I say that you will not understand? Problem is that you believe that once person is dead then that’s it and nothing more after that. Whereas I believe that there would be something after that. So we both agree that one day we will die and no human can deny that. Now whether or not there is anything after that is belief. Neither I nor you can prove if it either way. I am quite willing to wait and see and I hope you are too.

Now because I believe that there is life after we die then I am preparing for that life and you are not as you do not believe so. I don’t see any problem in that so why do you? And I know that I am not missing on a single sensible enjoyment of this life while I am preparing for the life hereafter so what problem do you have with that?

Finally, it all comes to the same point what I mentioned earlier that neither I nor you can prove if life does or does not exist after this. Of course I have my reason to believe and surely you have yours. Now I am also willing to be wrong once I am dead, are you?
Keyplus, //Problem is that you believe that once person is dead then that’s it and nothing more after that. //

I do? Are you sure about that?

I don't think your problem is in believing that there might be something after death - your problem is in believing you know what it is. You don't.
keyplus //And I know that I am not missing on a single sensible enjoyment of this life while I am preparing for the life hereafter //

Isn't this notion somewhat circular though?

How much of your enjoyment comes from the belief that you are preparing yourself for you anticipated life after death? How many of these things would you do without that anticipation?

How much of your life would have been wasted on pointless ritual if the lights just go out at the end of your life?
Why would an educated person choose to argue (on ANY issue) with somebody who thinks that ALL the answers to complicated problems of politics, morals or economics were supplied 1400 years ago by a paedophile?

The believers believe because their parents told them it was the truth when they were too young to form rational conclusions.

We argue with them so that these children might have an opportunity to see the dangerous nonsense exposed.
The Swat valley Deobandi you're talking to is not going to be convinced by anything somebody like you or me says, Beso. He has ALL the answers. NONE of these are subject to negotiation (rendering all "dialogue" fruitless). His version of his faith includes all the following hatreds:
Americans;
Jews;
Democracy;
Any woman (of whatever age) in a short dress.
Pigs;
Anybody who mocks the stupid pretensions of his preposterous "religion".

Free speecjor me say.
He h(both of us, possibly, with a lower IQ than hiom) a) smarter than you; (b) convinced of
Apologies for the mangled last part of my post.
v_e, I take your point, but for example, when Keyplus insists that the science of the Koran is faultless it’s important to demonstrate that it isn’t. Presenting indisputable evidence won’t influence him – he’s too far gone – but it may at the very least encourage the more gullible among us to dismiss his claims as the nonsense they are.
No answer to my questions then. I knew that. Thanks anyway for avoiding it. And according to someone, who dose not even know me, I am a Deobandi and so on. If I were to ask Vetuste that what a Deobandi is? She/he wouldn't have a clue. Becuase it is all internet knowledge.

Now get back to the subject. Because I don't have more time to waste as this is not my full time job and I have other things to enjoy.
