It is noticed in conversations today that many people are not good listeners, they want to do most of the talking.

When it is time for listening and they persist in talking, they deprive themselves of what may be important instruction.

Yes since the Bible rule is: Have you beheld a man hasty with his words? There is more hope for someone stupid than for him —Prov. 29:20.

surely that should be

I am certain there are lots of people you have to knock up ?

He is a mormon isnt he ?
I often "listen" to you PP but I find goodlife sooooo boring.

Sorry Peter, bit mutton this AM, did you say Moron?
LOL
No Peter, he's a JW....

I'd like to add my own proverb to this thread, the one which is about the futility of flogging a dead horse.

"Stones & Glasshouses" comes to mind!
I am sorry - on a point of order - we cant close the thread on the grounds tha no one has said "Nazi" or " Hitler "!
.

//Do all the clergy of Roman Catholicism and of Protestantism agree that Jehovah’s witnesses have been and are God’s prophet to the nations? //

No that is a big agree -

and I am pretty sure His Holiness.....
Hello GL Ignoring questions wont make them go away. ! But it will drive people away ! You quote the Gospel of Mark , a man who you don't know actually existed . An imaginary man who wrote about another man called Jesus of whom there is no contemporary evidence existed.
Mark an imaginary man who didn't write anything about the resurrection , an imaginary event on which Christianity is based.

I imagine you're right modeller!
goodlife, in case the reference to irony has escaped you, do you not realise the JW are the worst culprits in the talking and not listening group? When ever anybody from your sect knocks my door I ask questions but they don't even try to answer, they just ramble on with their preconceived notions, which is totally irrelevant to the question. To help you understand I will use your favourite book and suggest you read Matthew 7:5.
Matthew 7:5
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye;and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

The World English Bible translates the passage as:

You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye,and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother’s eye.
From Goodlife’s preferred translation of the bible, I would say Matthew 7:3 is most appropriate.

//Why then, do you look at the straw in your brother’s eye but do not consider the rafter in your own eye?//

Could it be because he doesn't listen to anyone outside his cult?
True naomi, but I like the word "hypocrite".
Baldric I often wonder if GL is real . It's a bit like trying to interrupt an automated recorded message. Maybe he's an ' agent provocateur ' .
If he is, he's doing a pretty good job.

When JWs knock on my door I always say " I will listen to you as long as you don't quote or show me the bible . That always leaves them tongue tied.

I think they are so brain washed they have lost the ability to speak and think for themselves.

I think GL has got the above proverb absolutely right when you substitute ' JW ' for 'man '.
//Have you beheld a ' JW 'hasty with his words? There is more hope for someone stupid than for him —Prov. 29:20. //
Me too Vulcan - but I posted Matthew 7:3 because it recognises that the Goodlifes of this world are completely unaware that their own vision is out of focus.
A wise person will keep his own counsel.Stop bothering God and his fellow man as a kick in the nuts often offends.
Bible of Life Experiences.
I can not afford my own counsel. I don't earn enough.
To OG,
Verily I say unto thee. Not being a pain unto others costs nix.

//True naomi, but I like the word "hypocrite"//

Let me help you. The Greek word rendered “hypocrite” means “one who answers” and also denotes a stage actor. In time, the word came to refer to anyone who was simply putting on an act in order to deceive others, ok.
Now if you had lived in those days, like other honesthearted people you might have been truly sickened by such religious hypocrisy. Like- do you, however, the one teaching someone else, not teach yourself? You, the one preaching, “Do not steal,” do you steal? 22 You, the one saying, “Do not commit adultery,” do you commit adultery? You, the one abhorring idols, do you rob temples? 23 You who take pride in law, do you dishonor God by your transgressing of the Law? 24 For “the name of God is being blasphemed among the nations because of you,” just as it is written.(Romans 2:21-24)

But would you have allowed the hypocrisy of the scribes and Pharisees to embitter you to the extent that you would reject all religion, including that which was taught and practiced by Jesus Christ and his disciples?

Yes hypocritical conduct on the part of religious people may turn you lot away from religion in disgust.

However this response would also blind us to the sincerity of true worshipers. The very barriers that we build for protection against hypocrisy can, in effect, turn us away from genuine friends.

Our response to hypocrisy, is then reasonable and balanced.

You lot are so selective listeners, but when God speaks some things do you listen.

Jesus commanded them: “Go . . . make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them . . . teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you.” (Matt. 28:19, 20) Is there anyone doing that today?

Or do you find yourself harboring resentment against some Christian because he receives his privileges.
