Keyplus, to Beso: //And what would you do then if you find out that they were right?//

Nothing. We'd be dead so we wouldn't know any different.

The only way the believers will be right about Armageddon would be if they created it themselves. And just like the Hebrews the faithful would happily go forth and slaughter to inflict their god's supposed intentions. We see many of the faithful actively working towards the final conflict.

That is what concerns me and why I actively work towards exposing the truth out the Abrahamic death cults. The future of humanity depends on the demise of all these religions.

The Jews, Christians and Muslims all have much the same vision with the crucial difference that only their devotees are chosen to go on and everyone else dies.

I guess I don't have to ask which one keyplus
Keyplus - “... ////Those who subscribe to the Abrahamic religions all eagerly look forward to it because it is what their god promised them.//// And what would you do then if you find out that they were right?...”

Oh Lordy! We've never thought of that - that's the atheist argument blown out of the water then!

Seriously, did you come up with that sad and tired old argument all on your own Keyplus? Or did someone tell you that it was something terribly 'clever' to say to atheists when they questioned the existence of god?
The central point is that the Abrahamic faiths all hold the fulfillment of the Armageddon prophecy as the grandest moment in the history of humanity. They are quite literally death cults.

So many of people of the one hundred generations that have passed have expected to see it happen in their life. After all Jesus said that some of those he was speaking to would be still alive.

In every generation there were those who worked especially hard to make it happen but until very recently the ability to anything globally has been limited. Unfortunately we now the the technology that would allow a rogue regime to destroy our entire habitat with people who are crazy enough to do it.

It all boils down to fear of death and the perception that those who adhere to a specific belief system will escape it. Once the end comes, they think their fears will be allayed once and for all and so they welcome the prospect.
I'm intrigued by the phrase "the end of world". When people say it, what do they actually mean? On another thread I posted these possibilities:

a) the extinction of the species Homo sapiens and the continuation of other biological life on Earth;
b) the extinction of all biological life on Earth;
c) the obliteration of this physical planet due to some cataclysmic (from our point of view) cosmic event.

I am aware that there are other possibilities but I think that the majority of people, when they use the phrase, mean either (a) or (b) or (c).
There is no End of the World. The World or earth, itself will never end. The earth is a beautiful place but unfortunately, in some parts, man has ruined it. But the Bible tells us that the earth was created to last indefinately and that it will be inhabited.

This is where the mainstream religions are wrong and these so called prophets of doom bring so much ridicule.

What will end is the wicked system that now prevails on the earth. The corrupting influence of politics, religion and commerce.
@ideosyncrasy "What will end is the wicked system that now prevails on the earth. The corrupting influence of politics, religion and commerce"

So basically everything human transaction then? Nonsense.Arrogant and dismissive nonsense too.
Do you not believe this?

Thank God I'm an atheist.
Concerned or not, Jesus said: 10 Also, in all the nations the good news has to be preached first..... Mark 13:10 and that the the difference, not what I say,but what the Bible says. (Matthew 5:3-6) true no point worrying about it.
Anyone else find it ironic that those proclaiming that they offer and preach the "good news" of the bible/ scripture/their cult are the ones preaching doom and gloom and dismiss all of mankinds achievements?

Well science disagrees. Just getting beyond a billion years from now would require a very fortuitous cosmic event that moved us out to the orbit of Mars. Otherwise the steadily increasing output of the Sun will boil away all the water.

This progression to higher output is as regular as clockwork having been observed in millions of stars just like ours and is in precise accordance with General Relativity and Quantum Theory.

Eventually though the Sun will burn out. We will want to find a way to get the Earth mighty close to it again after moving out well beyond Jupiter during the really hot episode.

Not an easy feat with a planet. God will no doubt promise to provide the means.

In fact some scientists are investigating how it might be done. One big asteroid slung past at just the right trajectory every thousand years could do it. I can only ask that God please takes careful aim.

BTW Might be a good idea to get an early start with the way Climate Change is progressing.

Not at all if you consider that the Abrahamic faiths are fundamentally fascist ideologies. They see the death of all opposition as the key to ultimate peace. Essentially it echos "Through uniformity comes unity".

Armageddon is the ultimate manifestation of that glory. The relish death because Abrahamism is literally a cult of death.
Very ironic LG, I sometimes wonder how they bring themselves to use the works of the devil with such casual regularity. I cannot see where it says in the bible that it is OK to use windows for anything other than for escape and voyeurism. As for the vanity of flying when that is the domain of angels, well I am shocked.
Does not worry me, I have a clear conscience, I owe no.one, If it happens, it happens, see you on the other side Naomi, I hope they have some Brandy there.

We'll, a lot of our current narratives involve the fall of giants - Dinosaurs, Rome, Empire etc. As we're constantly made aware that the "human race" as a group is dominant top-dog, maybe we're all showing a little self awareness? Or am I being too kind?

The major narrative of popular environmental science follows this kind of apocalyptic trajectory. Maybe it's rubbing off on us.

Also, there's a difference between the end of the world and dying. The end of the world might be torture, where as most our ideas of dying currently involve something like the sound of a party-popper going of and then a quick fade to black. :)
@Ab Editor "where as most our ideas of dying currently involve something like the sound of a party-popper going of and then a quick fade to black. :)"

Quite like the sound of that, actually - seems rather reassuring :)
So simple for some, is how do you envision the future? Do you foresee gloom and doom or peace and security? on what is your hope based—wishful thinking or firm evidence?

Jesus said: The lamp of the body is the eye. If, then, your eye is simple, your whole body will be bright.”—Matt. 6:22.
/Jesus said: The lamp of the body is the eye. If, then, your eye is simple, your whole body will be bright.”—Matt. 6:22. /
and that of course makes complete sense...doesn't it? perhaps not.
