Like it or not, we daily see things we would prefer not to see, and when we look at the daily newspaper or the television screen, accounts of injustice, cruelty, and tragedy leap out to tug at our heartstrings.

of course, but then again what is the point of your question, are you asking do we also see good in people, sometimes, but then i have also seen the worse too.
What's your point? Try adding an original sentence on the end to at least initiate a discussion.
True.

And ...?
Goodlife, if you want to see "accounts of injustice, cruelty," just look at your Bible! or doesn't that count?

Wakey wakey Goodlife!!
This sounds like the beginning of a sermon. What's the next sentence?
Given that no-one can see inside an atom, or into the middle of the Sun, then yes I do look at things beyond what I see.
Yes I do goodlife, I looked beyond your statement about jehovahs witnesses being first to attend major disasters, I found nothing. I asked you for proof of this from sources other then the watchtower, I saw nothing. I asked you to explain the term"other so called charities", I heard nothing.
Yes, and I see a rhetorical question.
Come on, need at least 3 more for a full congregation.

This is either going to be a Rafiki/Timon Lion King moment or a quote from Corinthians ........
goodlife has asked a question. It is not rhetorical.

Really, the standard of debate here is not high.
Just to try and pre-empt your next statement Goodlife. Yes I do see //injustice, cruelty, and tragedy// and no it has nothing to do with whether we believe in god or not.
Yes, although it has nothing to do with religion imo, it's good old human nature.
Oh no, I take absolutely everything at face value...
I know - those pesky soaps, like Eastenders especially. I mean I catch sight of it daily when I am flicking through the TV channels, and it choc-a-block with accounts of injustice, cruelty and tragedy which lead out and tug at my heartstrings....

So whats your excuse for yet another doom-mongering post? Is it - I hesitate to say it - yet another in your long line of JW inspired biblical homilies, telling us all will be well if only we "faithed up"?

Oh, while I think about it ,because I have lost track of the post where we were originally talking about this;

JWs help out at catastrophic events, which is nice and all - but do they, like all the major religions, contribute to charities, or run hospices, or womens refuges, or orphanages, or contribute to hospitals or anything like that? You know, them being a charity and all, and soliciting their membership for donations?
And now, when i have taken the time to read a few other of the questions, I see Vulcan has already asked the question. Still, does not hurt to ask it again :)

So I see you lot don’t Look Beyond The Things You See.

You are poor lot, Christians of the first century were in real need of having this kind of spiritual eyesight. They were carrying out their Christian ministry under much hardship.

And you let yourself be deceived by such fallacious and childish chatter. It is nothing more than low human sophistry, the fanciful opinion and imagination of mere men made. (Jas. 2:17)
Could you write what you mean without the quote please? That made absolutely no sense to me
Ooooh.... handbags!
Goodlife, so judgemental and very unchristian. Why not be swift about hearing, slow about speaking, slow about wrath. Try to see the problem from our perspective. That may well include seeing yourself through your brother’s eyes.
goodlife, is it ignorance or arrogance that prevents you from answering questions? (I realise this is a question that probably won't be answered but I live in hope, although according to goodlife, not faith or charity)
