a question for the theists. (for ' god' read 'any and all gods')

If there is a god, he's certainly had a good innings - he's has almost total devotion for centuries.

well now, he hasn't any more... billions of people are losing faith, people are doubting, people are starting to turn away - so why doesn't he do anything about it?

if a businessman is losing loyal customers interest, he doesn't just clam up and hide, he steps it up a notch, he comes out all guns blazing with a new plan to win back his followers. he tries hard to prove himself worthy again.

why doesn't god think - 'Oh eck, i'm losing them, i best give them something to reaffirm their faith in me'?

not small wishy-washy seemingly inconsequential things, but something big - you know like all those 'WOW' things he has apparently done in the past that prove his existence - anything would do really - it'd only take one totally convincing and undeniable thing for many to go back to him

so why is he seemingly content to just lose his flock?
what is he going to do when majority of the world no longer believes? because thats the way its heading.

i know many will say he cannot prove it, because proof denies faith and without faith he is nothing - but supposedly lots of things already prove he exists don't they?
well according to him they do -

Us, for start...we are so amazing we MUST be made by god - therefore that is him giving 'proof' ... then there's the earth - making a planet in 7 days is a pretty big deal and proves he exists too - doesn't it?

and also animals, good deeds, well everything, as well as all the other showy things hes done - surely doing stuff like that was proving his existence?

..pursued by a bear.
Do your little bit of good where you are.
It’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.

Desmond Tutu
We’re drawin’ the line,
So keep your noses hidden!
We’re hangin’ a sign
Says “Visitors forbidden”--
And we ain’t kiddin!
Here come the Jets,
Yeah! And we’re gonna beat
Every last buggin’ gang
On the whole buggin’ street!
Surely not a threat Khandro?
Replace the word 'gang' with 'religion', and the word 'jets' with any religion, and it still works.
Khandro - “... I now realise what I have been missing; the missionary fervour and passionate desire of the AB atheist 'Sharks' to convert everyone to their bleak outlook...”

The word 'bleak' according to Khandro:
noun; The world or the state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them;

You call it bleak. I call it reality. If you want to live your life in a state of perpetual delusion (and it would appear that you do) then you crack on. Live in your imagined la la land and have fun there. Wish your life away, safe in the 'knowledge' that you'll live again after you drop dead and spend the rest of eternity with your god.

Your imagined after-life devalues the very real and tangible life that you're experiencing right now. Believing in what are effectively just tall tales without a shred of evidence is fine and dandy according to you. But looking at the world and accepting reality based on observable and testable evidence is apparently “bleak”...

Religious belief: the denial of reality.
Ah birdie! //If you want to live your life in a state of perpetual delusion (and it would appear that you do) then you crack on.//
'Heaven and earth and all things exist in my mind........There is no difference between life and death, being and non-being.......The real nature of man's mind is delight.' Toju Nakae, 1608-1648.

Very profound I expect Khandro, at least it certainly sounds so.....
In fact the difference between life and death has been well documented by many astute observers.
Ah but did these observers. get any testimony from those who were dead ?
Apparently not OG, therein lies the rub..

Haha keyplus - you are happy that people are responding to your post?
even though they are laughing at you?

i know some say all publicity is good, but that's just sad.

people are responding to you because they cannot quite belief that you are serious, not because you have secretly hit a nerve! or said some thought provoking!
you really are totally delusional aren't you!

there are no atheists trying to convert anyone here - just rather challenging the theists to explain and defend religion in general, in the face of a massive amount of evidence to the contrary

the fact that not a single one of them can do it says a lot.
Joko, don't spoil the game, keyplus is such fun. He is one half of our in house comedy duo. A great idea for stage act, 2 delusional fundamentalist who speak the same language but don't understand one another. We just need a name for them.
Sunni & Shia?

For some one/thing that clearly never existed in the first place, God has done far too much already . . . and as far as I'm concerned, the sooner He/She/It starts doing nothing at all, the better!
There's an important difference between the two kinds of fundamentalism, Jom. The Watchtower "theocracy" is in it for the money; they haven't declared war on the rest of us. The harm they do is only to their own, e.g. refusing blood transfusions and discouraging their children from pursuing higher education..
V_E, That is a valid point but I wonder if JWs might get a bit more aggressive if they had a larger membership.
Khandro, I had no Idea that banking was based on zen philosophy.
Mt 24 14 clearly refers to the First Jewish Revolt and the sack of Jerusalem
dunnit ?

that is before Mt was writing but after the events of which he writes (crucifixion) and so is handy for a bit of fortune telling

or have I seen the wrong light ?

Utter drivel. I expected more from you actually. I must lower my expectations in future.
