If an atheist is asked why he has no belief in a supernatural God, he will usually offer a rational reason, but if a believer is asked why he believes in a supernatural god, he has no rational reason at all. How can anyone believe anything without reason?

godlife //Does not simply tell you what the Bible says is right and what is wrong;//

The Bible and it proponents argue that it is handbook for morality but a simple objective reading shows clearly that the Bible is littered with deeply prejudiced, misogynist attitudes that reflect the bigotry of its writers.
. No, The book has been subjected to such vigorous attempts to destroy it as has the Bible. Yet, it still exists and this, at least in part, in over 2,000 languages. Both its physical preservation as a book and the preservation of its integrity manifest divine intervention. The Bible is truly a miracle! But only to who understand it.
The Bible exists in so many languages solely because its devotees made the effort to translate it so they could proselytise to the unsuspecting from other lands. Popularity does not imbue anything about truth or divinity.

And once again you simply say "No" to my post and completely fail to address a single point from it. Do you understand the concept of debate at all?
The certainty of the faithful in declaring the thoughts of others wrong! never ceases to amuse me.

You have no evidence of god such as your religion describes, goodlife. Not a scintilla. The only place we can reliably know where god exists is in the minds of the faithful. The claims of the faithful on behalf of their god(s) are extra-ordinary, unyet none of you can offer any evidence to support such claims. Not a scintilla. Why then should we not consider the self -professed faithful as delusional? Thats what we would do with other people who made extraordinary claims but were unable to proffer any evidence to corroborate their story.

You claim that the bible itself represents a miracle because it is still here and translated in different languages is nonsense - the bible as we know it today is a collection of fable, myth, narrative, with some common sense ideas unfortunately outweighed by some sheer fruitloopery and downright unpleasant ones - an oral history transcribed, translated, edited, redacted, falsely attributed, and altered on many occasions to suit prevailing religious and political thought. Only the most optimistic would hope that others could take such a thing seriously as evidence.

You want to worship your deity, fine - its a free country - but your pronouncements on others thinking lacks any authority or gravitas.
> @naomi24: One is natural, the other supernatural

In an attempt to keep this thread on topic (I'm in my lunchbreak here), it comes to this:

You claim that the Higgs boson is "natural". You also claim that a "rational reason" that "a supernatural God" does not exist is that you have "seen no evidence".

Before we explore the rationality of your reason any further, please define "supernatural", "God" and "evidence" ...
Ah Mr. Goodlife, are you going to answer my question,?I don't think I need to repeat it, unless god has concealed it from your eyes. It would be nice to know whether or not you understand it.
Has goodlife ever actually answered any question?
How can anyone believe anything without reason?

Faith. For some bizarre reason faith is considered a virtue by some.
Beso, I think Goodlife's way of answering a question is to post several paragraphs of meaningless ramblings from some old book, then expct peope to be @rsed to look for an answer amongst the dross. I don't think it (gender not set) realises that almost no one reads them.

Hello Goodlife, I thought you said you were going. Did you miss us. ;o)

Ellipsis, //Before we explore the rationality of your reason any further, please define "supernatural", "God" and "evidence" ... //

Since few here seem to understand your reasoning, perhaps you should tell us where you're coming from by answering your own questions.

"... tell us where you're coming from by answering your own questions."

Christ, woman, you don't exactly make life easy for a bloke!

Mike, they are not my questions. They came from Ellipsis. What are you doing reading my posts anyway? They bored you yesterday - or did you just want to have another moan?
Ellipsis, if you can't afford a dictionary use google.
OK, let's start off with this one:

supernatural: Attributed to some force beyond scientific understanding or the laws of nature.

Happy with that?
"Mike, they are not my questions. They came from Ellipsis. What are you doing reading my posts anyway? They bored you yesterday - or did you just want to have another moan?"

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
Question Author
Ellipsis, I'm asking what you're happy with.
-- answer removed --
naomi, it was your question. But I'm happy with that definition, yep.

^^ It was your question.

So how about answering the rest? 'God' and 'evidence'?
Sorry to to digress OP, though just for a moment:

out of curiosity mike, why do most of recent your posts read, imo, as snipy and stay just this side of offensive and on topic?
