Many persons know about God. They may live in communities where most citizens claim to believe that he exists. But does this mean that they really know God? Well, there is a difference in knowing about the ruler of the country where one lives and in having a personal acquaintance with him. So, too, with knowing God.

notafish........How would you define “unity” on here? To some, the word simply means the absence of friction or strife. For example, if two or more nations sign a treaty and agree to the terms of peace, it might be said that they are in unity.
But is that really the case? Not necessarily.
Consider: Throughout history, thousands of peace treaties have been made and broken. Why? Often it is because world leaders are more concerned with their own supremacy than with peace or unity. Then, too, some nations are fearful of what could happen if they were to fall behind others in military might.
Thus, the fact that two nations are not at war does not mean that they are united in peace. Really, are two men with pistols pointed at each other at peace simply because neither has pulled the trigger? Such a view would be absurd! Yet, that is the situation in which many nations today find themselves. Growing mistrust has given rise to fear that one day weapons will be launched.

Here's an original story of the flood a couple of thousand years older than the Bible, written in cuneiform on clay tablets. It goes on to sending out the dove etc. I can post the rest if Elderman would like to discuss it.
‘You know the city Shurrupak, it stands on the banks of Euphrates? That city grew old and the gods that were in it were old. There was Anu,-lord of the firmament, their father, and warrior Enlil their counsellor, Ninurta the helper, and Ennugi watcher over canals; and with them also was Ea.
In those days the world teemed, the people multiplied, the world bellowed like a wild bull, and the great god was aroused by the clamour. Enlil heard the clamour and he said to the gods in council, "The uproar of mankind is intolerable and sleep is no longer possible by reason of the babel." So the gods agreed to exterminate mankind. I must say that I have a lot of sympathy for God, if he even to exist, having nutters like this lot toi manage. I consider Rowan Williams to be a complete fool and incapable of being a half-decent Archbish but he is sane in comparison to this lot.

Sorry I can't see that your God has changed anything. Violence is enshrined in the philosophy and considered holy if it results in the domination of the favoured regardless of the destructon to others. It is the same old "end justifies the means" that arose in the most primitive of all moralistic perspectives. It's called fascism.
