Well it saves having to think, so you you may well be right.

When the requirement of rational thinking ceases to be a consideration I suppose faith must be all the rage.
I read a great book recently by Tom Perotta and in it he came out with a brilliant rant against blind faith, which I'd love to be able to reproduce here but the book has now gone back to the library, but there was one part which has stuck - her refers to God as Santa Claus for grown-ups.

Yes, I think you are correct.
'...it saves you having to think...'
I wish. I've thought so much on matters of faith that I sometimes have to go away for a rest cure.
What was the book called flip_flop? I would like to read that.
Well, when I say 'go away' that's not absolutely true. They put me away. :-(
Faith is self-imposed ignorance.

Why do you ask such questions? Do you get some form of sadistic satisfaction from it, hiding as you are behind anonymity. Would you have the balls to stand outside a church, mosque, synagogue or temple and face the congregation as they leave with such a question?

What, do I look like an idiot!

Erm . . . don't answer that.
Personally I believe most of the sanctimoniousness comes from the screaming athiests on this site. They might believe it to be 'ignorance' but many do not, each to their own.
Khandro, I really don't understand why people complain about others asking questions concerning Religion and Spirituality in a section headed .... Religion and Spirituality.
i don't have any problem with people who profess a faith.

are you just being belligerent mibn2 in the defence of your cause ? seems like petty nit-picking.
That's the first time Iv'e ever heard that asking a question is being sadistic.
The question addresses a fundamental issue. Nothing wrong with that - although it seems some would prefer fundamental issues be left unaddressed.

Just been dipping into the Christmas candy Ankou. It does that to me . . . apparently.
really vulcan ? sadistic satisfaction: deriving satisfaction from the physical or psychological suffering of another person.

it happens a lot on the internet. maybe you should stay in more!

:o)
it can do mibn2, whetever wil you post when you indulge in the mulled wine?

i do hope naomi is on hand to defend your sword arm then as well.
^^ Oh Gawd! Ankou is bent on creating yet another of his much despised Groundhog Days!
It is defined in my dictionary as deriving pleasure from extreme cruelty, how is asking a question "extreme cruelty", or am I being sadistic in asking that question ?
