....surely the saddest and cruellest of afflictions, and often suffered by the gentlest and kindest people. How does religion justify that?

hey jom, i have good advice for you...shut up, i never said any of that, its you saying that, im not the one who started talking about women, naomi did. I have this to say to ratter, you may consider it barbaric, so do i, however if its to punish murderers, rapists etc than yes, its a suitable punishment. its better than a supposed life sentence in jail but they get let out in 5 years. i do not agree that this punishment should happen to anyone, only those who have commited serious crimes. i mean, that is why countries like saudi arabia and others have such low crime rates, because they are sorted properly, why do we have a high crime rate with knife crime, rape and all these other foul things. because we do not deal with it properly. At least give them a life sentence. i am sure the family of those murdered would agree with me.
Sith, So you agree its ok to kill a rapist or a murderer? so what about these murderes that are locked up in prison and then a few years later they find they were innocent and then released?

Its ok saying you only support stoning to death for specific crimes, the problem is by supporting stoning for other crimes you are condoning that by following that religion.

Personally I could never associate with any type of organisation or religion that kills people, especially young girls just because they chose the "wrong" boyfriend. sick and barbaric, some of try to live in a civilised society!!!
Sith .. This is an adult(ish) discussion forum, not a childs playground. Your studies of the koran seem not to have prepared adequately , 'shut up' is not reasoned argument it is an admission that you have lost the argument. With experience you will learn to do what Elderman does and conveniently avoid answering difficult questions. When you are annoyed by a question or statement it is good to ask yourself why, because you may find that you have an internal conflict between your emotions and your rationality. If you cannot resolve it yourself have a chat with your imam, he or she should have enough wisdom to point you in the right direction. When you have got yourelf sorted out I will be quite happy to continue discussing this topic with you.
well said ratter and jom - I am sure that somewhere in the Koran it says to look then leap, not career in out of control like Lewis Hamilton after two bottles of wine.
ratter, i didn't say anything about killing girls because they had a boyfriend. also what about all these murderers and rapists who go to prison for 5 years, get let out, and murder or rape again and no one can do anything because of "human rights". did the murderer think of the other persons human rights? no. I agree there may be people who are innocent, but Thats why we have trials and judges and juries.

Jom, there is no winning or losing here, as you said, its an adult discussion
Sith ..I don't think anyone thinks that you personally advocate the killing of girls for choosing the wrong boyfriend. Some people do kill girls for choosing the 'wrong' boyfriend, and they do it in the name of islam of one variety or another. The problem is that islam appears to do nothing to stop these barbaric practices and even allows some imams to continue to preach a mediaeval form of this 'peaceful and tolerant' religion.
yes, but apart from being a muslim, what has that got to do with me?
>>yes, but apart from being a muslim, what has that got to do with me? <<

This is the religion you support and try convince others that this is the right path to choose.

These religion are sick to the core for permitting this let alone encouraging it!!
alzheimers? jeez, are you going to go through th whole health alphabet?

1st you need to understand that this god (which is non-existent by the way) is not the all loving and kindly person he is purported to be. you must knoiw that, you bloody say it often enough.

then you have your answer.

Good morning, Ankou. Another of your Groundhog Days in the offing I see. ;o)
Ankou, you clearly are not happy with the way some of us debate religious points or subjects, do you need instruction on how to avoid such threads, it really isn't difficult!!

If I dont like the way certain threads are going I just avoid them.
ah, the atheist army are out in force!!

ratter, merely pointing out that one could pick any numbr of inflictions and question the religious justification, you could pick altzheimers to zygomycosis and anyting in between, but to what end? to find an answer or just lord it over the religious and atheist minions?

as i said, quite coherently, this god which don't exist aint nice and loving, ergo he probably created these illnesses on purpose, or maybe he didn't.
Question Author
Ankou, if you'd read the posts you would know that other illnesses have already been discussed here. You've entered this discussion after a hundred and forty odd posts only to complain about the original question - which, incidentally, was posted after a somewhat emotional discussion on the subject of Alzheimers with a rather distressed ABer . Either enter into the spirit of the debate - or stop moaning on practically every R&S thread you enter. It's tedious.
then why seek religious justification. it makes no sense.
Question Author
People are entitled to post what they want to post. Stop moaning.
Ankou, if you had been following the previous threads you wouldn't be at such a loss!

Maybe Naomi was asking these religious types how or why their "omnipotent" gods create or allow these dreadful afflictions?
Question Author
Ratter, he knows. He just likes being awkward.
yes, because as we all know he is a dirty rotten scoundrel with a penchant for evil and cruel acts on a genocidal scale.
god that is. not me.

:o]
Question Author
That's exactly it, Ankou. We don't 'all know'. There are some around who think he's lovely. ;o)
