Is there such a thing? If a relationship starts out on a platonic footing, is it possible for a man and a woman to maintain a friendship indefinitely on that basis, or is it inevitable that after time, the intentions of one or the other, or both, will change?

I think sqad perfectly fits my theory.
Funnily enough, although these friends are also friends of both of us as a couple, as are their partners, the friendship began solely between us before our partners/husbands/wives came into the equation.
oneeyed....thank you, I'm flattered..........:-)
Sqad is just desperate OEV! runs away >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
lofty....wrong.........the word is "enthusiastic"...............;-)
Get real! Friendships? No way, doesn't happen unless you like playing games but they even have there end. Acquaintances (male) no problem. Friendships - I would never even jokingly have physical contact with a male friend as I would with a female - I mean the arms around the shoulder, even hugging. A light greeting peck is fine, nothing more. Men can't take it, they simply want more the more they get to know you. It is really frustrating hence I don't invite male friendships.

I think a fact of life in my experience is that Men are only good for 2 things - having kids and money....if they are accommodating.
Seadragon......you have missed out initiating female orgasms.
Laughing - No Sqad the hassle one receives from men its not worth it. There are other ways!
Seadragon...LOL LOL
Oh poor Seadragon - I am 63 years old (nearly) and have had a lot of experience. Believe me not all men are as you portray - fortunately.

But I have only one kid and married a man who will never be rich!!

No, they're not, Lottie. Personally I love men. I have a lot of male friends and, in general, I find them far less complex than women.
naomi....too bloody right and there is more........I would rather trust a man than a woman.

BUT....I do like women...the smell, the touch, the lips, the softness of the skin................as long as they went home after it was over, they would be perfect.

Coo, I thought you were a real old romantic and getting a bit carried away there for a moment Sqad - and then harsh reality hit! :o)
naomi.....if you require the "romantic approach" sqad will provide it.............if you are looking for the occasional "no strings approach" that is also in sqad's repertoire.

Multi-tasking, eh? That's my kinda man! :o)
I'm just saying. I do believe there are some good men out there - not many but some. I also know of men who are having affairs yet are happily married. I'm just saying that you can't put anything past a man. If not today, then tomorrow. I'm talking about friendships developing - I don't believe they can stay platonic, the relationship is generally how the woman predicts it that is if she is attractive and fit not the physically challenged ones. (Men are safe with them.) And before I press submit - I am not accusing anyone of being 'fat' or 'ugly' that includes their partners.
Naomi While I respect you a lot and admittedly have flirted a little with you Im afraid I dont feel the same way bout you.
I think you're ace and hope we can still always be firends and im sorry if i led you on!!!!
