Liz Truss, to ramp up the cost of keeping unelected Peers in the House of Lords .
Truss is preparing a list to hand out honours to her aides and political allies after only 44 days in office. These peers claim £323 for every day they attend the H.O.L. And each one costs the tax payer £30,000 p.a. On top of this Boris has prepared a list of 13 new Conservative Peerages to reward his close friends All this unnecessary expense to the tax payer . ... Sovereignty Eh !

It looks like you can just sit back and wait if there is any truth in this DE article:

Finally something we can agree on Gully, yes, abolish the HOL and replace with an elected upper chamber.
How do YOU intend helping to get rid of them, Gulliver? You have no say in the matter. You don't live here.
Moreover, why does it annoy you Gully??
totally agree gully - parliament needs a root and branch reorganisation together with reforms of the electoral system

£323, just to sign the register , could pay someones Direct debit electric bill with Shell, for a few months.
So how do YOU intend to help get rid of them, Gulliver?

Naomi 09.14 .....Give your hero Boris a Knighthood, That should get rid of them.
Abolish the HoL.
Create a devolved English Parliament and set it up more centrally in the country, Birmingham or Manchester.
Make the Commons the UK second chamber and cut it to about 50 representatives from England, Wales, Scotland and England.
Save tons of £money :-)
They very likely will eventually, Gulliver.
// Make the Commons the UK second chamber and cut it to about 50 representatives from England, Wales, Scotland and England.

save even more money by moving the commons to a big shed warehouse building near the M4. makes it more accessible, plus the palace of westminster can be sold off for luxury flats.
Oh Dear - I'm agreeing with gully & gromit. Smelling salts please!
What has giving Boris a knighthood got to do with the house of Lords.
I agree with abolishing the HOL but no further devolution, please it's a total disaster and the last thing we need is more snouts in the trough.
Some people are politically confused. A knighthood does not automatically allow a person to sit in the HoL.
ZM: "Some people are politically confused." - Gully? Politically Confused? Noooo! He still thinks Tony (Thatcherite) Blair was a real Labour leader!
oh and BTW Truss was in office 50 days.

808 members , all sponging of the Tax payer.
// reforms of the electoral system //

They held a referendum on this issue about ten years ago. Two thirds of the voting public chose to keep the FPTP system as opposed to adopting AV.

FPTP has been the preferred method of voting for over '70' years now. Why change?
// I agree with abolishing the HOL //

Then how do you propose to hold the HOC to account?
