I bet there are more people in supermarkets right now buying booze.

What's the difference between a quiet pub and a busy supermarket ?

Something I’m noticing in these day of lockdown are the increased numbers of Bingo and Paddy Power Ads on TV, it’s as if saying, “ Right we’ve got you ,a captured audience as you ain’t going anywhere soon,so let’s get you addicted here “
The difference is that in a pub no-one would abide by social-distancing.
can someone administer smelling salts! I think Diddly is correct, in a pub situation people are goig to get closer and you never know when a pub will be busy or quiet or indeed become busy.
The supermarkets round here are not busy, they only let a few in at a time and you have to cue outside 2m apart

We don't do pubs these days. I do feel sorry for them, and indeed, all the other businesses feeling the pinch.

Salad for tea, details to follow.

Have'nt been to a major supermarket for weeks. Local shops are well stocked but more expensive.
you have to cue outside 2m apart

Sorry to be a typo spotter but the thought of having to make a minimum break to be allowed inside the supermarket tickles me.
So are you suggesting people queue outside a pub, 1 in 1 out.
good idea bob, get there early, never leave!
//Sorry to be a typo spotter but the thought of having to make a minimum break to be allowed inside the supermarket tickles me.//

It was deliberate, I don’t know the proper spelling
the supermarket sells a lot more than booze and is essential. The pub is not essential at all. It is a luxury.
The supermarkets have had bouncers and very strict social distancing measures put in place.

They couldn't do that in a little free house.
//The pub is not essential at all.//

No no noooo, .......aye it is
It's not, as we're seeing now.

The Pub is essential to british culture, but it's not essential to life.
I agree with you Stegs, the pub has become ( and always was ) a hub of the community we live in, a supermarket isn’t
The earth spins roond the pub
I miss ours but I don’t miss my Asda or Tesco
That's why they're closed then Bobbi because the "Hub" isn't essential for life, where as shopping is.
Because your Asda and Tesco are still open so why miss them.
My pub does podcasts on Friday night (pub owned by musicians) and Sunday (open mic, people send in video of themselves playing) quite good.
