Some of the visitors to the Tower of London have decided that it isn’t child friendly because its history is just too gruesome. Others visiting Mount Snowdon have complained that it’s too steep, that it doesn’t offer wheelchair access, and one suggested that the paths be concreted to offer easier access. It’s a friggin’ mountain for goodness sake!

Should we whitewash history and concrete over mountains to suit the precious - or should we tell them to put a sock in it and get a life?

Auschwitz, on Tripadvisor... ‘I know that Poland can do better, having seen the excellent facilities at the salt mines’

Just ignore them. Their complaints are ridiculous.
Slow news days this time of the year.
They tend not to wear socks, naomi.
No, never
We can just hope this is a passing trend that will disappear in the sands of time Naomi, it’s as if someone sits at a computer and types this carp
And like sheep , the snowflakes will follow because in truth they have no direction or identity
More ridiculousness as a result of all the liberal do-gooders in the world today who know they can spout any rubbish they like and some self-entitled idiot somewhere will listen and maybe even consider doing what the moaners suggest !!
Made up stories like this are dependent on gullible people reposting them. I think the term is called click bait. The Express is well known for posting sensational claims about the weather, people click on it, thus boosting advertising revenue.
I don't believe these stories to be honest. The papers will never have any trouble finding some twit or other to say something stupid, or if it's not quite stupid enough, spin it so that it is.

According to the reports, these complaints have been posted on Tripadvisor.
I'd go for the 'put a sock in it and get a life' option. History is history and if you can't deal with it, don't bother visiting. What about all the horrific things going on around the world now like the Australia fires and terror attacks which are documented everywhere. But also, it may just be one or two people making such comments and the media jumping on it to fill their pages.

I read somewhere that a woman holidaying in Spain complained that there were too many Spanish people around! Seriously, What The Funicular?

Next thing will be some idiot going to see the northern lights then reviewing the trip as disappointing as they didn't see anything as it didn't happen or it was too cloudy.
lol lol tiggerblue xxx
I Don't think any Disabled person complaining about wheelchair access, should be told to "put a sock in it and get a life "
some years ago there was a trip report posted by a group that visited Stonehenge. their gripe was to the effect of "what idiot though it would be a good idea to build it on the opposite side of the road to the car park"?
Mushroom , love that one.
"Should we whitewash history and concrete over mountains to suit the precious - or should we tell them to put a sock in it and get a life? " - I'll go with the latter. What next? a ramp up everest?
//I Don't think any Disabled person complaining about wheelchair access, should be told to "put a sock in it and get a life " //

it would depend on the complaint. there are just some activities that will always be beyond the reach of some, that's just a fact. climbing mountains will be beyond the ability of all but the determined, or those with an extensive support network. the owners of Snowdon could make one of the paths to the summit universally accessible but it would cost millions and would still be unusable to those who weren't supremely fit or blessed with a vehicle whose batteries could cope. thus its benefit would be to a section of society that would be infinitesimally small, with no return on the investment or continued upkeep. Unreasonable? Yes, when you consider that for the cost of a train ticket the disabled (and their wheelchair) can already reach the summit.
Absolutely everything on TripAdvisor - Eiffel tower, Grand Canyon, the continent of Asia - you name it - there's always about 5% of reviews saying it's rubbish for some ridiculous reason or other.

"Antarctica was a huge disappointment. It turns out to be just a very cold place with lots of ice and no shopping malls. They wouldn't even let us take a penguin home. Avoid. (1 star)".

That kind of thing.
It's quite obvious to me that many postings on Tripadvisor are fabricated for effect. Take them with a large pinch of salt.
it's a good way to boost visitor numbers, more people visiting = more people writing on tripnitpickingadvisor that they thought the ''attraction'' was great etc etc

Trouble with that is it's more likely to increase home-grown than foreign (and there's a flaw in that thinking too)
//Antarctica was a huge disappointment. It turns out to be just a very cold place with lots of ice//
thanks for the heads up, think i'll cancel
