I am not sure if this question is in the correct category but here goes. Back 1n 1978 I went to see the comedy farce "No sex please we're British" somewhere in London. I would like to know who played bank clerk Brian Runnicles, I know it was neither Michael Crawford nor David Jason as they played the part earlier in the decade. Does anyone know how I can find out please?

I can't provide a name but I can offer a photograph of the cast, taken outside the Strand Theatre on 6 July 1978. Perhaps it will help you (or someone else here) to provide a name?

The guy on the right is pretty obviously Leslie Phillips.
looks like Leslie Phillips bottom right.
One on the right looks like Leslie Phillips ?
Andrew Sachs, as suggested by O_G's first link, possibly took the role on at a later date. He's pictured here, in a touring production of the show, in 1988:

I thought it was Smiler
curiously, the poster partly shown on the right side of Buenchico's link seems to show the original cast as listed in mamya's.
^^^ Thanks for identifying Leslie Phillips, folks. (I should have recognised him!)

That helped me to find another copy of the photo, where the other actor is identified as Hugh Lloyd:

oh no, not so curious, mamya's link is to the 1978 cast. But I don't see Leslie Phillips' name in it. What was he doing posing outside the theatre?
so... Phillips perhaps appeared in it in June 1978, hence the Derby Day reference. Ian Masters played Runnicles in December, judging by the Christmassy lung cancer ad on the back of the playbill.

Thank you all very much for taking the time to investigate this. I will go through the suggestions and see what I can establish.
