When you buy something online, or stay somewhere, do you respond to the 'leave a review' emails you get a short time later? I always have, but am now starting to begrudge keep doing it and wonder if they will notice if I don't. Will it make any difference? Do you leave a review?

Not unless there is something special to say.
just bought a new kitchen bin and toaster for £25 from argos, seems a waste of my time supplying a review ...

Amazon ask me for book reviews a couple of days after downloading them to my Kindle. They must think i read books 24/7. I never give reviews.
No, I don't leave a review, because I don't take any notice of reviews (I suspect that most of them are not genuine, and have been written by company employees, family members, and so on), so I assume other people will similarly not believe what I write.
Mrs NJ has been receiving some treatment for a fractured arm. A day or two after each consultation she had a text from the hospital:

1. Please rate (1-5, where five is most satisfactory and 1 is most unsatisfactory) your overall experience at xxx Hospital, part of the yyy NHS Hospital Trust.

2. Please say how likely you are to recommend the services of xxx hospital, part of the yyy Hospital Trust to a friend or family member (1-5, where five etc. etc.).

Imagine "Oh yes, Aunt Dolly, I can thoroughly recommend the services of xxx hospital next time you break your arm. Don't go to your local hospital, go to xxx which is two hundred miles away. Much better service there.

Are these people for real? Does the NHS really pay people to send out these texts (and presumably collate the drivel should anybody be foolish enough to reply)?

Back to normal reviews: I don't provide reviews for the manufacturer's or sellers own website or forum. They're unlikely to print some of the things I have had to say about some goods I have bought. Similarly I'm not sure that any "surveys" (particularly from large pub or restaurant chains) serve any purpose other than to keep somebody employed. But I do submit reviews to independent forums.
I was asked to review my stay in hospital. I don't think it's for other consumers to read!

Yes, I do leave reviews but generally only good ones. I get annoyed when people leave bad reviews when they've booked a two star hotel expecting a five star service.

I wouldn't review a mop & bucket that I ordered off Amazon though.
Sometimes. I feel a bit guilty after a bit as complainers have more incentive than praisers, so every now and again I do a batch of non-committal "It's ok" ones.
OMG, Melv, that hotel can't be operating, surely!!

'Best' one I had was 3 or 4 days after I had to attend A & E a while back,
How was your recent experience in our A & E Dept@
Followed by about 8 lines of how satisfied were you on a 1--8
questions
And the last question "Would you recommend our A & E to family and friends?"
I have just completed a review relating to our trip to the Vet yesterday. There is a prize draw for everyone who completes the review.

They didn't ask Frankie what he thought - I don't think that he would have marked them very highly.
Oh dear god surely that hotel isn’t still open??

Ops! Sorry NJ, should have scanned the posts before I sent my answer ;o(

//OMG, Melv, that hotel can't be operating, surely!!//
It's still going ummm. They've even reduced their prices to £25-00/night.
I've always thought those requests from hospitals to be curious

After all you don't get to choose which hospital you get treated at
I would stay there if you paid me!!
*wouldn't
No problem sending a money transfer though, handy to know.

Some cultures have lower expectations of cleanliness and catering.
Occasionally I leave comments if the product is very good, or very bad.
A Moulinex electric can opener. Got it for a wedding present in 1974. Still working. The can opener, that is!
