This a UK site but looking at the numbers the US economy is pretty strong. Growth is over 3% GDP from stagnation 2 years ago and the national debt is a bit high at 106% of GDP (UK is 88%) but easily sustainable. Sometimes the national debt can seem very high but think of it in relation to say a domestic mortgage, they basically owe 1.06 times salary (GDP) so it's a much better state than most private individuals with a mortgage. Overall President Trump has done a wonderful job for you.

The US has long been riding high on borrowings. But they say "If you owe the bank $100 that's your problem. If you owe the bank $100 million, that's the bank's problem." I can understand wanting to improve that situation but it's high risk imposing tariffs etc.. It's bull in a China shop tactics.
