Rowlocks Khandro.
not so much as you would think, however there are plenty of areas in the capital that don't look or feel like London, at least the capital i know and love dearly.
Chief Justice Lord Phillips, also suggested that the English law should "incorporate" elements of sharia law.

no we shouldn't, this is the trouble, and causes major divisions, i don't believe in Sharia courts, or Jewish for that matter, nor faith schools of any hue. People should be integrating not cherry pick the laws, way of life you want.
oh another unbiased website.
is it biased??

woofgang; How can facts be "biased"; 423 new mosques and 500 closed churches, sharia courts in the capital, and a Muslim mayor?
I wouldn't say more Islamic than many Muslim countries put together - but more Islamic, yes.
we currently have 432 mosques and growing, and over 1,000 churches, admittedly many may be closing i don't know. this was gleaned from a website i looked at just recently.
Why single out London? Plenty of other places are getting just the same.
i am as concerned by the number of pubs that are closed in the capital, huge numbers and going fast.
I’m wondering if people who instantly say ‘Rowlocks’ to this suggestion only ever visit the bright lights of the West End? They don’t appear to have taken a bus ride from Aldgate along the Whitechapel Road, and through Mile End, Stratford, and Leyton - or if they have, I can only imagine they slept throughout the journey.
JD it mentions lots of other places, unfortunately. Bradford, Leeds, Birmingham, Dewsbury, Leicester, Derby, Liverpool, Luton et al.
The building of mosques in my country should stop forthwith !! But, I fear it's too late ...
so not just the capital. I was surprised at Luton being so multi cultural or in some parts being quite mono cultural.
there are no sharia courts. There is no sharia law in the UK. People choose to be bound by sharia law or not.
sorry badly worded. People choose to be bound by sharia requirements or not.
Sharia councils then, that is how its worded in the website i just accessed. I don't honestly believe that we should have Sharia anything, there no protection for women, no protection under British law, and there should be one law not cherry pick as i said before.
I live in South London which is probably one of the most multi-cultural areas in the UK. I know of only one largish Mosque in Croydon which I have been inside but there are many churches still around. There are a few Islamic centres dotted around as well.

I wouldn't say its more Islamic although the area I live has more West Indian and Asian shops than anything else.

I'm sure I saw something on the news a couple of years ago showing an area where only Muslims could frequent and a no go area for anyone else. Even the police were unwelcome and felt uncomfortable going in.
