I've fallen out with a friend I've known all her life. She's about 6 years younger than me. I find her very controlling and tormenting. I moved away from my home town 2 years ago, and am enjoying life.

She's been trying to get me to go to a festival with her just before Christmas as I'm going home for Christmas. I dont know what I want to do, I dont want to go to the festival. But the argument goes deeper than the festival for me.

I dont want to be so involved with her anymore, she doesnt make me feel good. Kinda why you would split up from a girlfriend or boyfriend situation. She called me a wee broccoli, and I didnt like it. I told her if that is the way she speaks to people, that it was rude and she should stop. I have known her all her life. I need distance from her. She's a very controlling person, but extremely good fun, and I love her, but I feel I need this for my own progression. Am I being unreasonable?

lol wee broccoli Sh*te* was the word hehehe
Only you know how you truly feel about her and the situation, so at the end of the day, only you can decide.
I don't think you're being unreasonable. If you really don't want to go to the festival, just say so. What's she going to do - drag you there ??

yes, the festival is not really the issue. x
if you don;t want to see her or go to the festival, don't. tell her straight, once and then don;t get caught up in any discussions
You need to think about what's right for you and if cutting her out or distancing yourself from her, then do so. I don't think you're being unreasonable.
No, not unreasonable at all.
You seem to enjoy her company and love her. Why not just be honest with her about how you feel rather than lose the friendship?
Only continue this relationship if you are a masochist ("I find her ... tormenting").
i once had a friend from childhood, and i realised we were friends out of habit, we didnt really have the same values or lifestyles or anything to bound us but those shared memories.

I told her that i wanted to end the friendship as it was not a positive in my life and i do not regret that at all.......................

sometimes its just right Good luck Pxx

Don't go, just tell her you don't want to go, she can only control you if you let her.
With friends like her who needs enemies!
