Just the same as heterosexual marriages I would have thought - can't see any meaningful difference.

But it just wouldnt be a stag night or hen do

Why not?
A stag night is for men, and are not gays men, ditto for lesbians, they are still women, ergo, a hen party.
Ladies and gentlemen i now give you the bride and bride,it,s just not right.
i was wondering if one of the couple takes their partners surname ? anyone know ?

There is nothing to stop one partner taking the name of the other - similarly, there is no compulsion for a woman to take her husband's name on marriage - it's just custom.

It may be that the trend for one partner to take the other's name will spread, but for now, it's simply a matter of personal choice.

gays and lesbians are not allowed to get "married"

With two of the woman who underwent the civil ceremony recently one of them already changed her name by deed poll to the same surname as the other.

As for hen/stag do's at least they won't be worrying what their partner is getting up to with their mates the night before!
