I know that you need the hiviz jackets, is this for every person in the car or just the driver?
Also do you still need a fire extinguisher in the car?

Everyone needs a viz vest.

Thanks
What about the fire extinguisher?
I believe one for each passenger (Hiviz that is) and within easy reach.
No experience Islay, but this looks like a good site to visit.

Hi-viz jacket for everybody in the car. You have to put them on BEFORE you get out of the car, so make sure they're easily to hand ie, not in the boot. I'm not sure about a fire extinguisher as we have one anyway. In theory you need a breathalyser but don't bother - the penalty for not having one is being told to get one; in any case they're still thinking about when to activate the legistration. Warning triangle is compulsory.

No Khandro not this time.
Lol Baldric wasn't it!
I’m happy to be corrected but I recall that in France you are required to carry spare bulbs.

We had a box of bulbs but they wouldn’t have suited the car we were driving at the time, but the box was ticked!
Question Author
Yeah - we have that already as it came with the car - but good luck trying to change the bulbs as its nigh on impossible to get your hands in to change them!!
Correct about the bulbs - since my car needed the bumper removing before one could be fitted I'm not sure why I had to carry them.
In France you also have to carry a first-aid kit (and be prepared to use it), a warning triangle and 2 breathalysers. You have to have 2 because the law states you must carry one. If you were to use that one then you wouldn't have one in the car. That's France for you.
Question Author
The breathalysers one is and 11 euro fine if you don't and as a forum I read last night stated that more often than not they let you off with it - we probably won't bother
