Is Catalonia classed as a country in its own right? My nephew has to do a project for primary school on a country and he wants to do Catalonia.  I thought that, although it has its own government, it's still Spain.

Catalonia is an 'administrative division' of Spain, so it looks as if your nephew will have to pick either Spain, or another unrelated country.

Very much like Scotland and Wales with their assemblies......still part of UK and mostly financed by the Westminster government even though there is a strong "independence" factor.
Doyou mean the boy couldn't do a report on Scotland or Wales as countries?
No catalonia is part of Spain, just as Wales is part of England - er I mean the United Kingdom
