Hello All; not sure where to ask this; I have about 50-odd of the old 12-sided threepenny pieces, showing George VI or Elizabeth, and I understand they have no intrinsic value, or interest to collectors, so I wonder if they could be made into some sort of decorative piece or whatever. Has anyone seen these sort of coins used in that way? Anyone got any ideas? Just thought I'd ask. Thanks.

You could perhaps solder some of them together to make a trivet or tea-pot stand.

Thanks M, my missis had a similar idea, but sticking them onto a backboard rather than soldering. They used to represent 13 shillings and ninepence, i could have done something with that back in the day, few pints and the pictures!
I knew someone that made a finger ring out of 1 when they were legal tender.

"Threepenny Bits"

Cockney rhyming slang, if I remember correctly.

Before the days of, "Get 'em out for the lads", it used to be, "Come on love, show us yer thrupeenies".

Thanks Bookbinder and Mike et al - I have now solved the problem in my usual way, by giving them over to the missis and telling her i am confident she will think of something! Cheers, G.
