furniture, for free, i have good quality tables etc which are almost new.
There are 9 pieces, have tried my usual outlet, British Heart Foundation
but the earliest they can pick up is 12th August. It would have to be in London,
and pick up from my flat. I don't want to sell them either, but i am not going to
pay to have them taken away. Do you think the council would help?

not yet...
Is there a Freecycle near you ? I've offloaded stuff this way.

Sue Ryder shops
Salvation army

Betel foundation
The council will charge you and expect you to put the items on the kerbside. I would try Sue Ryder first they do most of their business in furniture but they are sometimes reluctant to take old fashioned "brown" stuff.
Try your local hospice shop. I've gone off Sue Ryder since my friend took a few bits to them and they wouldn't take them because she didn't have an appointment.
sadly, i haven't found a charity yet that's willing to take furniture

Not sure where you are emmie, but we have a local outlet called Transform which takes only furniture. They help when someone gets a new property and has nothing. Like a startup.
emmie, if the council take it away, it will just go to the tip which would be a shame, as there are probably some people who would be very glad of your furniture. If the Salvation Army can't help, ask them if they know of any charity places that will take it, there is one near me (Manchester) that takes good quality stuff and sells it to families who are not well off. What about Barnardo's or the Royal British Legion? Try googling donating furniture to charity and see what comes up.
I find Sue Ryder ok you can't Just turn up with furniture, they book you in when they have the "moving" team available. It's a health and safety issue, as well as a way of e nsuring the shop doesn't get over crowded. They rarely sell stuff where it is donated but move it where it will sell best
ael that's the same down here in B&H. They have enough furniture. Too many people are expecting them to collect and take away furniture they don't want instead of paying to have it taken away.
^ the council ended up taking mine away for free but it probably ended up in a landfill
Barsel at our tip they have a sort of shop area where the good stuff goes and people help themselves to it.
I'd start by just leaving it on the pavement. Sometimes it takes a couple of days to vanish; but when we took an old telly out, someone rushed up and took it before we'd even put it down. If something's still there after a couple of days, then look for other outlets.
if you live on a street, put in garden with help yourself poster ,people do it round here and it soon goes
jno snap lol

Salvation army is a no go, they don't take furniture, the idiots at Camden Council stipulate that it has to be a kerbside collection,
after i explained that i have disabilities and cannot get down stairs with 9 pieces of wooden furniture. I can't find the way to take photos and upload them, to freecycle.
ladybirder that's an excellent idea, it's a shame all councils don't do that.
i had to laugh once when someone put a unit out saying free ,it didn't budge so they put a £5 label on it and it was pinched lol

as said Maggie i am in the capital, and so far no go.
emmie, try the Citizens Advice Bureau to see if they know of a charity that could help.
