I've got one last Christmas present to buy a Gift Card from Game.

As I really don't want to venture into town I though I would see if I could order one on line.

I've found several newspaper articles dating back to the spring warning that Game is on the brink of administration and isn't honouring Gift Cards.

Does anyone know if this is still the case, or recommend another similar shop that I can buy a gift card from?

Play.com and Amazon do gift cards as well, I don't think there's anything in Game that you can't get on them. I'd be loathe to use Game to be honest.

It's for a young lad, I don't know if he has his own email address. For the likes of Play.com & Amazon, I would need an email address wouldn't I??? I know I could use his Mum's email but it seems a rather indirect gift.

HMV seems a simple way round it.

Thanks all.

Given that Tetris is my idea of extreme gaming, I am well outside my comfort zone!!!!

Bowing to your superior knowledge Triggs Play.com offers best value for money? How can I give the gift to the boy and make it feel like I'm 'giving him something' rather than an email popping up in his Mum's inbox?

Perhaps I should take a look at the Play.com website.....it might answer all my questions and all the ones I haven't thought of yet ;-)

Taeverso.

> It's for a young lad,

What age?
Question Author
11......or thereabouts.......
Reason I ask is that a great deal of games simply won't be appropriate for a child of that age. What sort of games does he play currently...?
Amazon will delive you a proper gift card http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/gc/ref=sv__2

Play will email one to the recipient or to you to print off

Haven't a Scooby, but last years recommendation for his Christmas present was a Game voucher. As he will remain in the gaming 'zone' for several years yet I am taking the easy option and planning on repeating last years gift.

But perhaps not with Game...........
I have bought 3 Game giftcards this year. I didn't realise they were in trouble...oops!

That's brilliant Rocky, thank you.

I've done Amazon vouchers in the past but they were going to people with their own email address. I was worried that doing it via his Mums email would have taken a bit of the magic away from the gift.

I'll sort it now......just need to decide between Amazon and Play......is Play the best deal or are the much of a muchness???
Not necessarily Voddie, it's been mooted in previous months that they are in trouble. If the vouchers are going to gamers like my son, they'll have them spent by Boxing Day!
That's very true Rocky...they are not going to hang about in their pockets for long! lol
I find them much of a muchness Eccles, though Amazon do deliver to me quicker than Play, but there could be geographical reasons for that.
Game were in trouble but are no longer....at the moment.

I genuinely have never understood the concept of a gift voucher for a high street shop though.

MattK, I don't like giving vouchers, but from my limited experience many games cost a significant sum. So the child in question can have a number of vouchers given so they can go off and choose the game they want using the4 collective value of the vouchers.

At least by giving vouchers I can ensure it is being spent as I intended whereas cash could be spent on crack.....or as he's 11 yrs old sweets!

Or have I misunderstood your point?
Get a voucher for Game. Play are good, but it's frustrating for a kid having to wait for delivery. I've got my son a Game voucher, as I haven't got a clue what kind of game he'd want. Game also do preowned, so you can always get good value for money.
