a spider woke me up

was in my bed for a nap as i was up at six this morning when i felt something touch my arm,i opened my eyes and a ginormous black spider was on me,never got up so quick in my life,needless to say the spider is still on my bed with a glass on it waiting for someone to come in and take it away'I HATE SPIDERS'

Massive sympathy, I hate them as well.

As much as it may worry you, try and get the spider liberated in another room - they usually disappear and it is rare for them to make an apearence. However, if that feels to much, as for it to be liberated near the house - it will find its way back in but again, you are unlikely to see it again, they like to go about their business unobserved.

I have an upside down pint glass on my stairs with a spider under it right now, waiting for oh to come home and remove it outside.

it doesnt look quite as big under the glass,but when it spreads its legs its massive.

Ewww, kate, how horrible. I sympathise. And if whoever removes it for you gives you any of that 'But it's only a spider, it's far more frightened of you...' rubbish, please feel free to give them a punch on the nose from me.

slinky, slide a piece of cardboard or stiff paper under the glass and pick it up so that the spider is in the glass and you have it sealed to carry outside......

DT, there'll still be a bloomin orrible hairy scary spider on the other side of the card. No one in their right mind is going to do that!

Easier said than done DT. The one on my stairs is bloody well staying put until oh comes home tonight. I can't bear the thought of getting within reaching distance of the glass and spider again!

A) they do not stay still enough for me to put a glass on them..and
B) I cannot get near enough as too scared...and
C) they rush all over the place in varying directions. and
D) I just know that the cardboard would wobble, or bend as I am carrying it and the spider will poke through!

If ever I am brave enough I will jump on one, otherwise I leave the house until help arrives, however long it takes.

I don't care that it is only a spider, I also don't care if the bloody thing is scared. It is lucky it is still alive because my first instinct was to hit it with something really heavy.
