To follow on from sleepy's post.......it is too damn early to even contemplate Christmas. I saw the earliest signs of it back in late August...and frankly it just makes the dread and -yes-feeling of pressure -that much greater. It gets worse every year...who else feels this way?

Far too early.

I'm actually thinking of leaving the country for it this year.

lol,inaPickle!...same year here and it wouldn't start til after Thanksgiving. Even since coming to the UK it has gotten progressivly earlier. Dot-it is interesting what you say -since my marriage collasped I have had 2 Xmases on my own and the pressure is worse. I only have my 22yr old daughter here and all the jollity of the season makes me feel worse-am I making any sense here?
I have wanted to spend Christmas in the sun for years, but you can;t get the time off when you work in retail, it is the busiest time, I dream of being on a Caribbean beach on 25th December.

Haha-Marrakech...no Christmas trees there!
I love Christmas the wonderment, the joy, the family bonding, etc. I spend hours wondering which of my girlfriends will ring in tears ( the all time winner is the one who stabbed her husband with a fish fork then proceeded to tell all of her family in English -and ****** up Polish for the visiting relatives- how they had offended her for the last twenty years!!! As her Husband said I probably should have kept my mouth shut - he has the driest sense of humour I know.) The joy of it all being over, til the shops wheel the cr@p out a month earlier the following year. The bonding - avoiding the urge of UHUing/gluing up the gob of the wee cousin who thought that my kids deserved to know the truth that Mr Sense and I were perpetuators of fairy tales regarding a certain jolly gent.
Actually for a bit of variety I did my shopping in New York last year - and took in the sights too - they say a change is as good as a rest! lol. By the way when the kids go back to school in September my Housekeeper thinks it is just hysterical to pitch up and count down the days to Christmas ... I should really get a p45 to wave at her.

LMAO-sense4all !
pastafreak...i agree w you...there's commercials on tv for xmas already here! i drives me nuts! wayyyyyyy to early for this!
My christmas starts about 4pm on christmas eve.

I cannot believe that some people around my area have xmas decorations already up.
I don`t like the run up to christmas, it`s too commercial nowadays, Christmas for me starts when I watch A Christmas Carol on BBC2 xmas eve about 6pm lol
Im still waiting for someone to give me a good reason as to why we celebrate christmas lol
pastafreak I understand absolutely. I just got paid etc., and already have a stress on about the impending season of jollity, which invariably ends on Dec 25th with everyone over 5 feeling a bit deflated, and a lot skint!
I thought about making stuff this year, but then I realised I have about 10 successive 7-day-weeks coming up. Who the heck has time to be creative any more?!

I think sometimes we need to step back and evaluate what's so important-isn't it better just to have people you love round you? Unless you do have kids, in which case it's best to max out your credit cards and hope there won't be tears before dinner!
26th actually.

Some of us also have a birthday at that time.
i get one brill pressie for everyone, eat a simple meal and sod off back to work! or the gym to relieve the boredom. we have a dinky tree which goes up a week b4 xmas and is down 27th along with decorations!

now whos a bah humbug?X
