The same as anyone else who understands the language understands by it.
Mass extinction can also happen when it combines with antimatter converting mass and antimass into energy.
Actually antimass isn't a good word to use because matter and antimatter both have positive mass. But yes, matter can become extinct when it evolves into energy.
Perhaps mass extinction is when only two people turned up to mass in the last remaining church. :)
