15.7
Yes, the hypotenuse of a 14 x 7 triangle.
The diagonal of a 14 x 7 rectangle, which is what you get when you unfold two adjacent sides of the cube.
I make it 15.652

12.12?

The diagonal for the base square is root-2 98 (7 squared + 7 squared)

The A-B diagonal is then root-2 of 145 (98 + 7 squared)
Question asked for 1 decimal place.

Please ignore my stupidity, i.e. should have read the question properly.
European or Asian termite?
For anyone that can't visualise it, here's a diagram:

https://ibb.co/0Z289Tb

Unfold the cube.
The termite will crawl up face 1 and along face 2 along the line AB.

So yea I agree with the answers, the line AB is given by:

√ (14² + 7² )
AB = √ 245
AB = 15.7 cm
OK At the risk of making a fool of myself, isn't drmorgans correct, on the basis that we're talking about a termite if you see what I mean?
The shortest route in distance is through the cube, the shortest in time is on the faced, assuming termites crawl faster than bore.
The original question didn't make clear that the termite should only move on the surface of the cube. I presumed that it should.
If the OP wishes to clarify, then I'd be interested to know.
Kuiper... Who got it right?
It might help if we knew what the cube was made of, but certainly an ambiguous question as it's posed.
if the termite must use the surface it's 15.7 if it can tunnel it's 12.1, end of.
16.989949493661167cm. Or 16.99cm.
workings togs?
Te square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the adjacent sides. 7squared+7 squared is 98. the square root of 98 plus 7cm is 16.989949493661167.
Togo; you've got it wrong.
nearly togs....
Togs: √(7²+14²)=15.7 to one DP
