As the clocks went forward last weekend, my wall clocks changed automatically. So my question is what is in the clocks and how does it know when to go back or forth??

Mine that are connected to WiFi, automatically changed. Only the car, oven and heating system had to be done manually.
They are radio controlled and have an aerial that picks up a signal that gives the correct time. A circuit decodes the signal and adjusts the clock
Our central heating boiler timer adjusts automatically but there’s no WiFi connected to it.
The signal for europe comes from Berlin and the back up should Berlin fail is Daventry

which says something completely different but what the hell
As barry1010 says, the clocks are radio-controlled:

My central heating clock is not, have to adjust manually.
Only those timepieces labelled "radio-controlled" (or having the RC symbol) will adjust themselves (and keep perfect time).
All my clocks are RC as are several of my watches (I have quite a large collection!).
it's witch craft! Burn them!
