if it took an average man 15 mins to walk 1 mile , then he stopped for a break for 30 seconds then walked half a mile back then stopped for a further 30 seconds and returned to the end point of his original journey , how long has it took him to walk the half mile back ?

This is the most fun I've had on AB for years.

that should have sain
half a mile is 1/30 of 15 miles.
He stopped for a break for 30 seconds, then later stopped for a second break.

I can assure you that I'm not confused by that part, at least. If, on the other hand, you haven't posed the question very clearly, then perhaps you should clarify it, rather than say it's our fault for not following your lack of clarity.

And you still haven't linked to where you found this question.

bhg nearly ha sit again but again he not took in account his 2nd 30 sec break making the whole min up in total
Smartypants,
can you PLEASE give us the question in its correct original form, because what you are writing is complete nonsense and not even self-consistent
What whole minute?!

"How long did it take him to walk half a mile back" doesn't care about what he did before and after that journey. This isn't controversial.

You haven't asked the question at all clearly. That's your lookout. Ask it again, ask it clearly, and link to where you found this.
smarty - I've just had to switch to using my wife's laptop, which explains why my typing has gone to pieces. What's your excuse?

i cant put the website url in as answerbank dont allow urls in the answer section as it gets scrambled, i guess a safety measure to stop virus attacks im not sure.
but dont worry guys, its only a bit of fun it took em a while to work out the answer and i had to cheat and peep at the result then work it out as they described it
Nonsense, it's easy to post urls here.

Example:

https://www.mathsisfun.com/puzzles/
of course you can put urls in.

im not sure what point you are making bhg, with ref to your writing has gone to pieces, and what my excuse is for what ?
Question Author
no that wasnt the site jim , it was a google search on IQ not maths..
spathy //bhg nearly ha sit again but again he not took in account his 2nd 30 sec break making the whole min up in total //
That's not the English I was taught.
then what was the bloody site?
Oh For Funks Sake!
Smartypants
go to the site where you found this question and copy it ACCURATELY, because at the moment you are only making yourself look stupid, not us.
my brain hurts.
Yeah but if I knew the actual link I wouldn't be asking you for it. Now can you please post it already? I've just demonstrated that there is literally nothing stopping you from doing so.
I suppose, on the plus side, at least this deals with the problem of too few posts in Science on AB these days...
If Jim's taxi travels at 10 mph (it's snowy out there), how long will it take to get to the pub? If Jim drinks his 1st pint & a chaser in 1 min 37 secs & Jim takes 25% longer to drink each subsequent round, given that the barmaid takes 46 seconds to provide each round, how long before Jim is sufficiently tiddled & thinks "quark" is the noise a posh duck makes?
No time at all, I can't stand beer :P
jim - are you saying you'd like more like THIS?
