has been discussed on Breakfast news this morning.

Why can't schools and parents get together and teach properly?

It's either a contaction or sign of possesion (sp I know I know)

Surely it's not that difficult to understand?

As a secondary teacher I soon realised that most youngsters don't care one bit. It didn't make any difference how many times I told them. They just assumed I was 'sad' and needed to 'get a life'. To them it didn't matter- their most important communications were talking, texting and using facebook, and they could understand each other perfectly without apostrophes.
Most of it is obvious, but occassionally daft rules make exceptions which mean folk make the wrong decision whether it should be used or not. We should keep and use the apostrophe but IMO the rules need an overhaul.

The joys of the English language is that the rules are so wacky.
Watching Jeremy Kyle, (I know, I know), the sentence at the bottom of the screen had to be read a couple of times before I understood it. A comma in the proper place would have been good.

"I don't believe you're pregnant but if you are my son is not the father".
A woman without her man is nothing.
"Que" MR.
The government should ask MarkRae to form a quango with a few like minded people.
A woman! Without her, man is nothing.
I thought it took two to "tango," that's what they taught us at school.

but that is a minimum these days, I suppose.....
Zero marks JJ, try again.
A woman: without her, man is nothing!
A woman without Herman is nothing.
A woman; without her, man is nothing
Schools should concentrate on Math and English. When the pupils have mastered these subjects get onto the finer points of grammar and punctuation.
