Specific heat capacity of water is 4.18 kJ per kg per Kelvin. Don't know anything about cocoa beans though.

It's just the amount of energy needed to warm up a kilo of a substance by one Kelvin, or one Celsius.

In the case of a litre of water, we call this a kcalorie, or in metric 4.18 kilojoules.
