Whilst schism is undoubtedly correct it does not mean a breach of faith, merely a split, although usually used in religious contexts.

schism defn 2a. A formal breach of union within a Christian church http://www.thefreedictionary.com/schism - it can be used in this very specific sense, as well as the more general meaning.
