I know it's still a week to go, but I would like to wish everyone on Q and P a "Very Happy Christ mas " - especially those who have helped me in the past and those who will no doubt help me in the future. Thanks for all your assistance and amusing banter throughout 2006. Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year everybody.

Merry Xmas from Co Durham, and a Happy New Year.
from south yorkshire, happy christmas and good luck in 2007 to you all
May I extend my personal seasons greetings to all AB'ers. I have joined the site about 2 months now but habve been snooping at sight for a couple of months. All I can say is what a fabulous bunch of people!
Very best wishes for a great xmas and a wonnderful and prosperous and healthy new year.

Cheers Bazcmk
As another neophyte may I add seasonal greetings to all and my thanks especially to the regular experts who supply answers to seemingly insoluble clues but who always seem to get an answer in before I can, on the odd occcasion when I can supply an obscure one!

I am intrigued by some of the noms de plume; perhaps we could replace Herculis guessing with nom de plume guessing? Does Sarumite come from Salisbury? Is JimJools one person or two?
hiya teacher, happy christmas to you & all yours, and hopefully a winning new year, thanks for all your help :-)
I am impressed by the number of ABers that appear on this posting that also took part in the Herculis Link Game. That fact alone tells me much! It would be difficult to find another group of people who have such "generosity of spirit" in abundance.

I cannot imagine how I managed to complete quizzes and crosswords before I stumbled on AB, Yet over the last few months AB has really come to life and the user names have taken on personalities of their own. Like everything in Life, the more you give - the more get back!

To the many good people listed above, from near and far, I wish you continued good health to the hale and hearty - and better health to those of us not so fortunate.

A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all in AB-land, where people spend hours helping others - often to the bewilderment of the rest of the family! :o)

Well said crofter. All the best to you and yours.
Hi Teacher1
I didn't realize you had a link going and so posted greetings via PaulineWard's link. However, at this time of year it doesn't hurt to send greetings in duplicate or triplicate:
So to you and your family and all our new buddies at Abers we send wishes for a Blessed Christmas and a Peaceful New Year.
The following link was forwarded to Pauline, but you might like to see it, too.

Oops! nearly missed this! From the Lincolnshire coast - thank you teacher1 and a merry Christmas and happy New Year to you and all the ABers. I have been visiting this site for just over a year now and I feel blessed that I have found such a happy, fun-loving, well-informed and patient group of people to almost-know!!! Thank you all xx :O)
POINCIANA, your suggestion above reference the introduction of a "nom de plumes" competition would on the evidence so far provided be a bit of a walkover for you, with a 100% record in correct guesses. Top of the league and stars in abundance !!
Further investigation into the derivation of your "handle" indicates .... " Tree of the tropical caesalpiniaceous genus".
Whoa!.. foul he cried .. I would never have guessed that in a hundred years, what a mouthful.
However, let's hope that between us all we may find a suitable replacement for the links game in due course.

The above posting was e-mailed to me by ontarioice. Have a read !
Teacher1. I can't read anything with that link. Did you mean it to be the following Politically Correct Seasonal Message which we received from our friends in Australia?
If so, here goes:

We wanted to send some sort of holiday greeting to our colleagues, friends & family, but it is so difficult in today's world to know exactly what to say without offending someone. So we met with our legal advisers yesterday, and on their advice we wish to say the following: Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, our best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral celebration of the summer solstice holiday, practiced with the most enjoyable traditions of religious persuasion or secular practices of your choice with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.

We also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2007, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make our country great (not to imply that Australia is necessarily greater than any other country) and without regard to the race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.

By accepting this greeting, you are accepting the following terms:

This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wishers to actually implement any of the wishes for themselves or others and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wishers.

Disclaimer: No trees were harmed in the sending of this message; however, a significant number of electrons were mildly inconvenienced.

Sorry folks had to do it in two sections as it was being rejected as 'too long.'
merry xmas to one and all hope everyone enjoys it and happy new year xx
